Anyone played around with quest mode on Google Maps lately? Today is the first I've seen it, pretty sure it's new. Changes the map to an old style Zelda-like RPG.

Pretty sweet, despite being a little useless, lol.

EDIT: Gotta love the street level icon, tho:p LOOKS LIKE A DWARF!!!! :-D

I will admit, it's pretty funny. Some of the stuff you can see in Street View looks convincing shading-wise. Whatever filter they're running over it is good.

EDIT: Can anyone give me the locations they're looking at? Maybe it's just where I'm looking. I've tried the Giza Plateau, Ney York City, and St Louis City. All standard street view...

I see the city I live in in glorious 8-bit (Not really... It's 8-bit styled, but not really 8-bit. Too many colors for that).

Try Google's headquarters, or Area 51, or the Sinian Plateau, or the Gaza Strip.

Searching Google's Headquarters takes me to Area 51;-)

EDIT: Love the giant android at the real Google Headquarters, but sadly, it's still normal streeview... Sigh...

EDIT2: Oh, and the streets outside GHQ are lined with people waving to the camera van... Odd.

EDIT3: Guess they're all Google employees, judging by the fact that none of their faces are blurred... Oh, and they're holding "Google Entertainment" signs.

Yeah, it does look more like Dragon Warrior than anything, but there's some Zelda 2 and Civilization in there.

I wish zooming in close enough to see minor highways showed more city detail.  Like, at least buildings instead of grass.

Las Vegas shows up as a castle.

I didn't even notice, but it makes sense.  It looks just like Dragon Quest (Enix) and Final Fantasy 1.  I'm betting it was somebody at Google, and they then licensed the likeness.  Nobody who still works at SquareEnix would recognize NES sprites if they were bitten by a cartridge.
