I'm not sure what you're talking about, and I've beaten the game with the male charecter. Do tell!

And put it in spoiler tags, for serious.

Haw haw. Incidentally reading the TVtropes article on SRW J has made me realize a few things that may make me play the game for real again. So thanks for that! :D

As a note, due to hijinx (a mid conversation save, you can do that apparently) the original run of the stage is preserved. So while the screenshots are inaccurate to the dialogue in the previous update, the dialogue is accurate to the rest of the LP, so. If this made no sense to you don't worry about it. It's a minor thing to begin with.

preperations for us?! All right, fine. First a shower, then some grub.

Hyoma:Hey, what are you going on about? Y'know, people usually introduce themselves when they first meet.
Ryoko:Pfffft! If I'm in for a lecture, at least tell me your name!
JuzoWell, she's a wild one, alllll right.
Hyoma:Tch... I'm Hyoma Aoi, Combattler V's main pilot.
Ryoko:Oh, THAT huge bucket 'o bolts? And you're just a kid on top of that, huh? ...I'm Ryoko Subaru. As you can see, I was employed by Nergal to be an Aestivalis pilot. So uh, where are the showers? Anyone?
Hikaru:Why, helloooooo! I'm Hikaru Amano, pilot! 18 years old! I love to eat pizza and - at times - dry senbei! Nice to meetchaaaaaa!
Okay, Hikaru probably isn't loopy so much as kind've airheaded.

Izumi: Heheh... Ahahahaha! The air... It tastes delicious!
One can not be so kind about Izumi, however.

Ryoko:Oh, and this is Izumi Maki. As you can see, she's... way out there. Are you all seriously pilots? There are some here that look... lost.

from Combattler V

Hyoma:He makes up for it by being smart. Kyosuke here's already graduated from the Federation University!
Ryoko:Whoa, for real?! He's more than your average brat, then!
Akito:I'm a pilot, too! ...But I'm really just the cook.
Hikaru: Oooh, I knew it! You just don't... LOOK like a pilot, y'know?
Akito: What's wrong with that? And w-what's so bad about being a cook?!
Ryoko: Oh, don't get upset. It must have been a real pain for you to switch gears like that, right? Damn, will somebody please tell me where the showers are? Now?

Time passes...

Noal: So those were the remaining pilots? Man, they look so unreliable. That Prospector geezer sure knows how to gather himself some goofballs.
Aki:Perhaps, but the fact is that everyone here is highly skilled.
Koji:Besides, we're only employed for the trip to Mars. We'll just have to bear with it 'til we get back.
Sayaka:They're all pretty strange, sure, but I hear they're top-notch pilots!
Aki:The problem now is that unknown unit...

Scene shift to cafeteria

guys in that robot, but... you don't know anything about who they were, or what they wanted?
Katia:Sorry. All we know is how to move Bellzelute. That's it.
Festenia:S looooong time ago, we were kidnapped from our homes and taken to this bizarre institution. Once there, we were experimented on by these weirdos for... God, I don't even know. The guy who bailed us out seemed like he was in a fight with the rest of the guys who locked us up in the first place, though. He gave us Bellzelute and told us to run for it while he stayed behind and bought time.
Prospector:And what happened to him?
Katia:He's probably dead... If only we had kept our cool and analyzed the situation...
Pessimistic much?

Festenia: He DDEFINITELY told us to protect Bellzelute, though! That was the only reason we were able to escape at all, really!
Yurika:Hmmm! I'm not sure what to make of this. What do you think, Calvina?
Calvina: I only have one question... Does that robot of yours have any connection to Ash'ari-Kreutzer Corporation?
Festenia:Whatzat?
Melua:I don't remember hearing that name anywhere... What about you, Katia?
Katia:Me neither. Sorry.
Calvina:I see... Well, that's good, then.
Yurika:Hm... Is that all you're going to ask them, Calvina?
Calvina:Considering their circumstances, it's safe to say I have no connection to that unit of theirs. They should be fine. The real question is... what are we going to do now?
Prospector:Well, you were able to use their robot in battle. Considering you were in no condition to pilot anything beforehand, that poses a rather interesting quandry...
Calvina:......
Fukube:...What would you like to do, Captain?
Yurika:They don't seem bad to me! Let's keep them aboard the ship. I have to warn you though, girls... You're probably going with us on our trip to Mars at this rate.

Festenia:You guys're real lifesavers!
Melua:Nice to meet you!
Prospector: You'll have to earn your keep here. We're a bit lacking in the firepower department at the moment, so we'll want to use your unit in combat at some point. Allow that, and we should be able to keep you aboard, no questions asked. In fact, you may even end up with a little extra money on the side...
Katia: If Calvina helps us out, then I don't see why not.
Festenia: Hmm... Well, we can't fight alone, that's for darn sure.
Prospector: What do you say, Ms Coulange? You've proven you can use their unit in battle, even if the exact reasons are unclear... You can go back to the time when they called you the "White Lynx." I'm sure you're intimately familiar with our current position in these matters, as well. You only have to agree, and then we can change your contract to that of a pilot...
Calvina:...Fine, I don't mind. Do it.
Prospector: All right, then. Come with me! I already planned for you to join as a pilot from the beginning. You're going to be the squad leader, too! Oh, and in addition, you'll be in charge of keeping an eye on the girls. I hope you understand.

MORE time passes.

Nothing's happened since then... Hey Chizuru, where're Koji and the others?
Chizuru:He's exploring the ship with Sayaka, I think.
Hyoma: Hmph... Sounds like they're having a date.
Kosuke:While the Nadesico is a warship, it was designed to include several built-in facilities tailored specfically to civilian use. They even have a complete recreational area!
Hyoma:Heh, I guess we're gonna have to take a peek around too.
Chizuru: Yeah, let's! By the way, where's Calvina?
Calvina: Oh, wandering around. Just taking care of a few things.
Uribatake: Hey, nice timing, Calvina. What about those girls?
Calvina:They're in the bathhouse. Firt time they've ever seen a bath that large, so they're pretty content at the moment. They've been visiting it constantly since they first saw it yesterday, as a matter of fact. Pretty understandable, really. I never would've dreamed of seeing something like that in a spacefaring warship.
Chizuru:It definitely looked like a great bathhouse... And it sure felt great, too!
Uribatake:The bathhhouse, huh... Nah, guys, that's not what I wanted to talk about. That Bellzelute thing! Combattler and Mazinger both have manuals to help us with maintenance, but I have no idea what to do with Bellzelute. Dunno who made it, but that thing is full of security measures keeping me from doing my job. My pride as a chief mechanic is hanging in the balance!
Calvina:If there are any issues with the machine, we'll find out about them soon enough. The unit also seems to have a diagnostics and self-check system of some kind, but I don't know how to use it quite yet. Might be worth looking into.
Uribatake: Wait a sec... Self-check system? What's it like? How does it work?!
Calvina:Who knows. Don't know much about the basics, but it seems like a piece of hardware that checks over them ech's systems and makes adjustments automatically.
Uribatake:Sounds like I've been made obsolete... *sigh*
Poor Uribatake.

Gai:This is a legendary masterpiece of robot animation... Gekiganger 3! I wonder if watching it can get even that blood of yours to boil... Why, I bet it'll have your soul roaring in no time! Do you think you can truly comprehend its beauty?! Well?! DO YOU?!
Let the meta begin.

Akito:Gai, enough! I know all about this show! I watched it back when I was a kid on Mars. It made even me want to become an ally of justice...
Gai:Whaaaaat?! You understand it too?! You do! All right, then! I'm gonna let you see a special prize of mine...
Calvina:...Looks like some kind of video.
Kosuke:Seems... interesting.
Hyoma:What? Kosuke, are you into that kind of thing, too?
Chizuru:You really ARE just a little kid!
Kosuke: N-No! I was just thinking... Maybe I can get some ideas for new weapons from it!
D'aww.

To the bridge!

Megumi: Receiving light-wave communication from Nergal. Ruri, please decode.
Ruri:Omoikane, please decode and reproduce on the main screen.
Omoikane is the main computer of the Nadesico. (From martian successor nadesico obviously) It has it's own portrait, but isn't shown here. You would do well to remember this thing, because it's more prevelant then you'd think!

Calvina:This is...
Fukube:Heh... So it's finally begun.
Megumi: No way...
Yurika: This can't be... What's the meaning of this?!
Ruri: It's just as you see. In opposition to PLANT's independance, the UEFA carried out a nuclear attack on the agricultural Plant "Junius Seven." The Plant collapsed as a result of the attack, with civilian casualties of around 240,000. PLANT's governing council immediatelygave approval to retaliate. ZAFT has deployed Neutron Jammers on the Moon and Earth, causing a serious energy shortage on the planet's surface. After that, ZAFT invaded the Moon. At the Endymion Crater's Grimaldi front, ZAFT's mobile suit battalions completely annihilatedthe 4th Federation Space Armada. The PLANTs and the Federation are now embroiled in an all-out war.
Minato: ... This is terrible!
Prospector:That explains why they were so eager to take the Nadesico by force. We're fortunate to have escaped before war broke out in the Earth Sphere.
Yurika:Fortunate? Why?
Prospector:If we were delayed, we could've been atacked by ZAFT, too.
Yurika:But...
Fukube:Captain, we won't be able to do anything about it until we return. More importantly, with the hostilities between ZAFT and the Federation being what they are, our roles are now all the more important. There's no chance of the Earth Sphere sending anyone to Mars in the near future.
Yurika:Oh, you're right!
Calvina:That's strange...
Ruri:Yes, it is.
Yurika:Huh? What is?
Ruri: Even with the beginning of hostilities, there was no Jovian presence at the Grimaldi front. They always gathered there before the conflict.
Yurika:Hmm. Is it me, or does it seem like they didn't want to get caught in the cross-fire? Maybe the lizards decided that it would be better to let us kill each other.
Ruri:But that would suggest they're capable of high-level tactical judgment.
I dunno about high level. Seems pretty basic to me.

Fukube:Is it possible they're learning?
Ruri: It is. Taking that theory into account, I believe they will not try to attack us seriously until we reach Mars. What do you think, Captain?
Yurika:Well... Ruri, you say lots of serious stuff, Especially for a child...
Ruri: I'm not a child. I'm a young lady.

Minato: Buuuut... what if it was all a coincidence?
Ruri: Yes. There is also a chance of that being the case.
Yurika:Hm... Oh, yeah, what are those Neutron Jammer things you mentioned?
Ruri:They appear to be ZAFT's new weapons. They have the power to nullify nuclear fission within its effective range in addition to causing electromagnetic interference. The principle they work upon is unknown. They effectively nullified the UEFA's nuclear weapons, and have created power and food crises across the globe.
Yurika:I see. Well, atl east it'll stop both sides from killing themselves in brightly-colored nuclear flashes!
Prospector:Yes, I suppose that is a relief.
Megumi:Well, er... I think I'm going to enter this information into the ship's internal network. Here we go...

And there we have it! CHOICES!

We have 42935 cash.

And we have a servo motor and a Booster to add to a robot or two. Some have 2 slots, some have 4. Generally the worse a robot is, the more likely it is to have 4 slots. The servo adds 5 to mobility (dodging, remember) and the booster adds 1 to the movement score.

Upgrade cash chart here. Once more, feel free to be as complex or shallow as you like. I've got a (tenuously defined) system, don't you worry.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

GO TO IT!

EDIT: Also, robot roll call updated, and you have two days to do this. ANNNND of course if you want any unit information, just say so.

Following the suggestions of Seriyu, I'll recommend increasing the weapons on Bellzelute.  Speaking of which, could we see the stats of Bellzelute and Calvina.

Anyone else tend to default to hearing Calvina as Motoko?  I'm sure it's not accurate, but it's what I do when reading Calvina talk.

Aye Aye!

Calvina

Melee - 149 Defense - 97 Evade -127
Range - 154 Ability - 177 Hit - 142

Spirit commands are currently focus and nothing else

Annnd a whole bevvy of abilities!

Hit&Away - Allows you to move after attacking, perfect for long range fighters
Potential lv1 - Lower HP = Higher Defensive stats
Supp. Def. lv1 - Can take a hit for another charecter, there was an example of this in the first version of mission 2, but oh well, each level makes the unit capable of performing one more defensive support a turn
Command lv1 - Raises stats of units within two squares of her unit
Combo lv1 - A complicated skill that has no use on her, as she has no combo weapons! I'll explain it when it comes up in the game.

Bellzelute

HP 3800/3800 EN 160/160

Terrain Air:A Ground:A Water:C Space:A

Movement 7, Size medium

Mobility 115, armor 1000

Repair cost 5000, no special abilities. Another thing I noted while looking at all this is all of it's O Rifle abilities use energy, the energy usage doesn't get too rediculous, even with the best attack, O Rifle A, but still something to consider. It also has weapons with ammo to fall back on too.

Something has come up and I'll be gone tomarrow, so there'll be another day's worth of break before the next mission. Just sayin! As a result the voting is extended by another day but I think we've gotten about as many as we're getting for this one. :P

Oi. Throwing in the suggestion for Nadeiseco EN boost again, and probably throw the booster on it, too... at least if my memory's working and the booster is the +1 move thing. Perhaps I should have double checked my reading comprehension first :-\

Maybe some EN for Maizinger and Belz along with the weapon boost for Belz, too.

I miiiight have a bit of a hardon for not running out of dakka and go juice :P

Though it helps that EN's one of the cheaper upgrades, heh.

My suggestion is to prioritize the weapon boost for Belz, then sprinkle energy upgrades along the ways Frumple suggested, prioritizing the Nadeiseco, then the Maizinger, then our precious Belz (since it's getting a weapon upgrade, and has ammo-based weapons, I've de-prioritized it energy-boost wise).

A bit more info about those items we got would help.  From the sound of things, Nadeiseco probably would benefit most by a movement boost.

I thought I put both parts in there, but Booster is +1 movement (straight up just one square farther), and Servo motor is +5 mobility, which counts for dodging. Higher is better. Servo motors are fairly negligable but the "motor" category of parts ramp up fast, up to the wonderful apogee motor, which we'll get to when we get to.

And another minor announcement, I MAY be posting updates a few hours later from here on out due to life stuff. Ideally it won't effect anything, and I will never actually post one later then I have been, but if I do happen to start posting them later, that's why. Update still scheduled for tomarrow, though!

Currently I'll be adding... I think 2, (About a 100 "power score" boost to each weapon), and throw a pip or two of EN on beelzelute, Mazinger Z, and Nadesico. If there are any MAJOR objections to this specific layout, lemme know.

AAAAAAAAA

Ruri: The Nadesico's operation systems are highly automated. We don't need anyone present unless it's an emergency. The only operators on duty right now are Megumi from communications and myself.
Megumi: Honestly, it just leaves us with a lot of free time. What did you two want to ask?
Sayaka:It's been several days since we learned that PLANT and the Federation are at war. I was wondering if we had recieved any more news of the conflict.
Ruri:We've lost communications with the Earth Sphere. Since Nergal's relay base was on the Moon, there's a good chance it was destroyed by either ZAFT or the Jovian Lizards.
Koji:So we're in the dark 'til we get back to Earth?
Sayaka:I see... I wonder if Dad's all right...
Ruri: Enemy attack.
Sayaka: Huh?!

A blue pulse appears and recedes

Ruri: The Distortion Field is working at peak performance. We needn't worry about minor attacks. It should remain this way until we reach Mars.

Meanwhile in the hangar..

Calvina:...So I really can't get it to move on my own, huh?
Festenia:What're you up to, Calvina? Still wanna train?
Katia:We already told you Bellzelute can't be piloted alone.
Calvina: You're serious. Does it use a system akin to Combattler's brain-wave reader, then?
Katia:It's called Cytron Control. Using it, we link ourselves with Bellzelute. We're the only ones who can do it. Us... And them.
Calvina:The same ones who locked you three up in some kind of bizarre institution?
Katia: Correct... Maybe that's why. We don't know any of the details, but they did a lot of things to us while we were there. Still, now we're free, and we've taken Bellzelute as compensation.
Festenia: Well yeah, sure, but the first time we moved around in this thing was when that mystery man busted us out of there. Before that, we never even knew Cytron Control existed.
Melua: That's right. And we weren't permitted to ask any questions, either.
Calvina: Well, it's been proven that as long as you're with me, we can fight. Assuming we keep that in mind, the rest can wait. From what I can gather, though, you'd give your lives to protect this machine. If I fight with it, there's a chance it might get destroyed in battle. You... are aware of that, right?
Katia: That's a necessary evil. I understood the risk when I first saw you enter Bellzelute and suddenly understood how to pilot it. This machine can give you the power to fight again. In exchange, you'll have to protect both it and us.
Calvina: No guarantees. I'm not particularly attached to my life at the moment, unfortunately.
Kind've a downer.

Gai: Why the hell not?!
Calvina:Yama- ...Gai. This doesn't concern you.
GaiYou may have deceived all the others in that battle against the Federation, but Gai Daigoji's Eye of Justice will not be misled! I don't know anything about you bein an ex-UEFA ace pilot, but I saw immediately that you lack a warrior's spirit! Yes! I'm talking about the burning passion that overflows in a warrior's SOUL!
Calvina:...So what?
Gai:W-Well, I'm just sayin' that if you don't want to fight, then why're you going with us to Mars? I mean, y'know...
Calvina:Just because I don't care for my own life doesn't mean I don't care for the lives of the people around me. Don't worry. I'll do my job.
Gai:No no no! That's not what I'm talking about! I'm saying you need something to PROTECT! ...Well, at least you're gonna give it your best shot. You know what I mean! We'll protect the Green Earth from all those that would dare harm it! We'll stride into battle and-
Calvina: I'm sick of you AND that "Green Earth" garbage. Now scram!
Poor Gai was just trying to help the only way he knew how.

Festenia:Calvina, back there, on the moon...
Calvina:So you know about what happened to me, right? That Cytron thing did its job, all right.
Festenia:Maybe... I'm not so sure. I only found out all that stuff when I went inside Bellzelute with you.
Calvina: Don't bring it up again. Sometimes, people have things they'd rather not remember. I don't care what you make of the information, but... I won't forgive you if you mention it in public. Keep that in mind.
Festenia: Oh, um... Sorry! I won't talk about it anymore, so please don't be angry, Calvina. Pleeeeeaaase?
Melua: Stop this! I can't stand to watch you threaten Tenia like that!
Calvina: Just when I thought you were all being a little too quiet... ...Even Festenia's acting kinda weird. What is it with you kids, anyway?
Katia:Sorry. We'll do our best not to mention anything we learn about you, but... We have our own secrets to keep. too, so we wouldn't do something like that in the first place. Melua and tenia have their own fair share of awful memories. We didn't mean to hurt you by bringing it up, but-
Calvina:I know. That just came out wrong... I'm sure we're both having a hard time coping with all this.
Calvina isn't a terrible person, just kinda prickly. Understandable, given the circumstances.

The Nadesico approaches Mars...

Yurika: Akiitooooo! We're going to be arriving at Mars soon! Do you want to join me in the br- ...Are you doing something in there?! ...I'm coming in!
uhhhh

Yurika:What are you two doing?! And why are you clinging together like that?!
UHHHHH

Akito:Joe... *sniff* I can't believe he's dead! Gekiganger... I... *sob* ...I had no idea this show was so -good-!
Oh.

Yurika:Wha-?
Gai:That's the way a real man should die! In battle, protecting his friends... Man, I cry like a baby every time I watch it!
Yurika:Whaaaa...

Meanwhile on the bridge...

Ruri: We'll be reaching Mars' upper atmosphere soon.
Prospector:It's been almost two weeks since we left the Earth Sphere. We've done well to make it this far.
Akito:(I'm finally back on Mars. Hang in there, everyone...)
Noal:The only problem is knowing when the enemy's gonna attack us for real.
Megumi:What's that? It's almost like Mars is glittering...
Koji:Maybe it's an attack?!
Calvina:Those are nanomachine colonies. Been a while since I last saw 'em.
Festenia"Nao-whaaaat?
Ruri: Nanomachines. Small, self-replicating machines. They were built in order to change the atmosphere of Mars to be more like Earth's.
Kosuke:They don't just purify the atmosphere. They also keep out harmful cosmic radiation!
Prospector:They also improved the soil. They keep doing their work without even a word of thanks. I learned that when I was appointed sub-manager of Nergal's Mars branch.

The ship shakes.

Ryoko: Whoa, enemy attack?!
Yurika:Ruri, the Field!
Ruri:In working order... No damage. Still, this attack is different from the others. Mid-sized enemy ship detected. Presence of mobile weapons also confirmed. We need to counterattack.
Yurika:Battle stations, everyone! Ruri, put the Gravity Blast on standby! Let's blow em to bits! All pilots, head out as soon as you're ready!
Calvina:The target is the enemy warship. Ryoko, you take the Aestivalis squadron. The rest of you are to follow my lead. Numerous enemy units have been detected, so take care when deploying.
Ryoko:Roger that! *chuckle* This is great... I love this feeling of tension at the beginning of a battle. Let's go, guys! Formation Cluster Amaryllis!
Gai:[music note]Our dreams are calling out! For tomarrowwwwwww![music note] Gai Daigoji'll take mars back! Let's go! GAI! SUPER! UPPERRRRRR!

Gai smashes into the mazinger accidentally while grandstanding. Luckily it's a hefty thing and suffers no meaningful damage.

Koji:Whoa! What was that?!
Ryoko:Urgh, that Gekiga-dumbass! What the hell are you doing, you jerk?!
Izumi:This is Mars' upper atmosphere... a hellish, frozen vacuum. Why do I feel such excitement at the prospect of slaughtering those insect-lice machines...? Why...? Come on already. Scatter about and die, all of you!
Juzo:Hey, that chick in the Aestivalis is muttering to herself again!
Hikaru:Seems like Izumi got HARD BOILED all of a sudden!
Ryoko:Oh, she's a wierd one, all right! Better to just leave her be, if you ask me!
Akito:How can you people be having so much fun at a time like this?!
Minato:Well, I don't know... Maybe it helps to relieve tension?
Ruri:Idiots.

An offscreen battle is occuring during this conversation

Fukube:Captain, call them back. At this rate, the enemy ship will...
Yurika: Don't worry about it. Fight, Akito! You can do this!
Prospector:The enemy warship is equipped with a Gravity Blast Cannon, so take care to stay out of its firing range. That said, I think we're going to do fine when we get to Mars. With Nadesico's Phase Transition Engines, the Aestivalis, Mazinger Z, and Combattler V, along with Bellzelute, we should be able to defend against any assault.

The battle successful, they move on to mars.

Minato: We've passed the nanomachine colony. Descending into Mars' atmosphere.
Ruri:No enemy signatures for 30km.
Yurika:So we finally made it to Mars... Now what?
Ruri:Scanning from theupper atmosphere reveals there are no remaining lifeforms in the cities. The shelters also came up as destroyed.
Prospector:Nergal has a research institute at Olympus Mons. Its central structure is deep underground and possesses an excellent shelter. It's undoubtedly the best place to look for survivors.
Sayaka: What were they researching?
Prospector: You'll see when we get there. That place was the origin of the Nadesico... 30 years ago, when we discovered... "It."
Megumi: It...? Captain, we're receiving some kind of transmission. It's very weak, however, so don't expect clarity.
Akito:A transmission?! So there really ARE some survivors!
Yurika: Ruri, you can handle this one!
Ruri: Omoikane, play the message back, applying voice amplification and noise removal.
Omoikane:...UEFA warship, can you hear me? THis is Elizabeth Clabery of the Outer Space Development Group. UEFA warship, pelase respond!
Aki:Doctor Elizabeth?!
Yurika:You know her?
Noal: She's a member of the "Cosmic Culture Club" and... It seems she's all right. Man... I'm happy to hear that!

The ship heads for the distress beacon.

Noal:So these are all the survivors?!

From Tekkaman blade, I believe.

The practical class students, the staff, and everybody else were... Well...
Aki:No way... Only six people?!
Akito: What about the colonists from the city?!

Simone:That's when we lucked into your descending ship.

Roanne:I understand you're happy about being rescued arthur, but I don't think that's the only reason this ship is here, especially since they aren't affilliated with the military, but with Nergal. I don't think we're going back to Earth very soon... ...Isn't that right, Miss Captain?

Okay, big load of people here. Simone,David, Roanne, Anna, and Arthur are from Blue Comet SPT Layzner.

Yurika: That's right! We came to save the people of Mars. Please, tell us the location of the shelter!
Elizabeth: Before you think about that... I'm worried that the Jovian Lizards will-
Uribatake: Hey, there's a robot inside this thing! There's also a jerk-ass kid! He's not letting me get close, and he's carrying a gun, to boot!
Aki: What?!
Koji:Heh! These Outer Space Development people are pretty incredible, huh? I wonder when they had the time to put a robot together?
I like Koji, he's a nice fella and all, but he isn't terribly bright. Most super robot pilots aren't though, to be fair.

Noal: Oh gimme a break... I never heard anything about this!
Fukube: Dispatch a security detail at once.
David:P-Please, hold on!
Prospector: Do you have an explanation for this, Dr. Elizabeth?
Elizabeth: ...The only reason we're still alive is because of that boy and his weapon... ...An SPT called "Layzner". His name's Eiji Asuka. He has the blood of both Earth and Grados flowing in his veins... He's also our friend, a brave youth who abandoned his allegiance to his planet in order to save complete strangers like us.
Ruri:...What's this "Grados" thing?

Time passes as Elizabeth explains what Grados is.

Akito:So our enemy, the Jovian Lizards, are... humans?!
Hyoma:Dang... And I was so sure they were aliens chasing after the Earth, too!
Incidentally the plot of Combattler V (which is already completed at the beginning of the game), delt with combattler and defending the earth from aliens. Which is why Hyoma is so nutty about chasing down aliens.
Chizuru: So grandpa was right all along!
Prospector:Are you talking about the departed Prof. Nanbara?
Gai:Finally, the truth of the Evil Space Empire is revealed before our very eyes! Oooooh, this is makin' my passion burn hotter than ever!
Ryoko:Will you shut up?! Things are confusing enough without your commentary!
Calvina:We're the first ones to learn about their identities from the people of Mars. But I wonder... All Jovian weapons are unamnned, so why the change?
Elizabeth:That was also what we thought until two weeks ago... When they appeared. There were many survivors at the shelters until Then. But, after that...
David: ...The Gradosian Army appeared, to finish off any remaining survivors. Their Skullgunners searched for and massacred any humans they found. We were just about to die, too, when Eiji saved us. Because of that, we trust Eiji with our lives. He put his own life in danger to save ours.
Simone:After that was nothing but running, running, running... We ran for our lives. All we had left to believe in was the possibility of returning to Earth with Eiji.
Fukube:You're from Grados, eh... That means you're the same foe who destroyed Mars.
Akito:You're... the one who destroyed our Mars?! Dammit, let me at 'im!
Juzo:Hey! Don't do anything you'll regret later! Hyoma, help me out here! Hngh!
Akito:Grr... Because of you, Mars was...!
David:No, Eiji is our friend!

Eiji is the main charecter of Blue SPT layzner. And he is an awesome fella. He's probably one of the most level headed and rational people in this game.

Earthling. Half the blood flowing through my veins is the same as yours.
Noal:Heh. Yeah, right! If you already betrayed your friends once, it's only a matter of time before you do it again!
Noal is kind've a dick again.

Aki: Noal, he wants to help us!
Eiji:...Then let me tell you that Grados is pursuing the Earth. They hide behind their unmanned weapons to instigate conflict. But once you exhaust your resources battling each other, their invasion will begin. We must return to Earth at once, and draft a plan to counter the Gradosians' advance. The Earth is my ancestral homeland. I want to spare it from further conflict, if only briefly.
Megumi:Oh my gosh, that means...
Ruri:...It's too late. The Earth Sphere is already immersed in conflict.
Elizabeth:What?! Aki, is that true?!
Aki: Just as we left the Earth Sphere, PLANT declared war on the Federation.
Anna:No way... What about the war against the Jovian Lizards?! Besides... Why would they...
Simone:...Because the guy leading the military is a dimwitted numbskull!
Jun:......
Minato:Anyoen who won't stand down is the enemy. That's the thought process you get when people like Gen. Colbert are in charge.
Chizuru:He even attacked us...

They leave the ship and explore the underground shelter below.

Megumi: So Akito, your hometown was in a place like this, huh? Wow... Were you the Captain's nighbor?
Akito:She was the daughter of a military official. I was... Just a regular student. Nothing special.
Megumi:But that doesn't matter when you're children! Honestly I'm a little worried about you and the Captain.
Akito: Huh...? No, I... Yurika and I are just childhood friends...
Hyoma:What're you just hanging around for?! Let's go!

They find more survivors.

From Martian Successor Nadesico.

party for coming this far, but I'm afraid this is all we can manage at the moment. We do have some coffee, however.
Koji:This is it...? This is all that remains of the people living on Mars?!
Inez: That's right. These hundred people are all that remain. Allow me to explain. With the exception of this shelter (established and built by Nergal), the rest of the planet has been swept clean by new enemy weapons which have appeared relentlessly since two weeks ago. They intend to wipe us out, right down to the last.
Sayaka:How horrible...
Akito:But isn't this great?! There are still survivors! Listen, everyone! We came here to save you! We're going to take all of you back to Earth!
Megumi:Isn't it wonderful, Akito?
Hyoma:Now that we're here, everything's gonna be all right! You can rest easy, now!
Inez:(Really? I wonder about that...)
Yurika:N-No way! Why?
Inez:It's as I said. I'm the one who drafted the basic design plans for the Nadesico and sent them to Earth. That's how I know. She's an excellent ship, but... To think a single vessel is capable of taking on the Jovian Lizards (or perhaps it's more accurate to call them the Gradosian Army?)... At any rate, you simply can't win. Hence: why we have no intention of coming aboard this ship.
Yurika:But we've been fighting off the Jovian Lizards this whole time!
Akito:You just don't believe in us!
Inez:You truly don't know anything, do you? That half-blooded boy over there may know about the Tulip. Eiji, do you know what its relation is with the unmanned weapons?
EijiNo... The first time I saw it was when I arrivved here. I never saw anything like that on Grados, anyway. There's no record of them in my SPT's computer, either.
Inez:I see,I see... That's the extent of the trust our enemy holds for a half-blood soldier, I take it. It's almost as if they didn't want you along for the ride.
David:What did you say?!
Koji:W-Wait a sec!
Inez:I know what you're going to say. You're going to tell me this boy smuggled himself onto their warship and stole their new weapon single-handedly... And all for the Earth's sake. You people believe that, unlike the military, the Nadesico is powerful enough to save Mars all by itself? Ahhh, the incredible recklessness of ignorance!
Yurika:Um... Could you hold on just a moment, Ms. Fressange?
Inez:Don't mistake the folly of youth for the ability to do the impossible. No one here is a hero.
Hyoma:What's your problem, lady?! You think we're gonna just keep quiet while you breate us?!
Anna:How can you say such terrible things?! Eiji nearly died fighting for us!
Gai:Waiit a second! Are you doubting that I, Gai, am the destined hero of this age?!
Hikaru:Yes, yes, we get it. Now be quiet!
Wow, even Hikaru's yelling at him.

Ruri:Idiot.
Noal:If some of them want to remain here, fine. We came to confirm if there were survivors, And we'll take on anyone who wants to come with us.
Aki:Noal, don't tell me th-

An alarm goes off.

Ruri: Enemy attack. 5 large warships, 30 smaller models detected.
Yurika:Prepare to attack. Gravity Blast, standby!
Ruri:A Tulip 40km ahead of us is deploying reinforcements.
Calvina: A sizable number of ships, I see.
Hyoma:What the?! How the heck can they carry so many of those things?!
Inez:They're not being "carried." They're simply coming out... And there isn't going to be an end to them. Every last one of those enemy weapons is coming from somewhere else. No matter how strong you are, you simply can't beat that many units. Developing an effective operation without a clear idea of the enemy's true power is impossible. Well? What are you going to do now?
Noal:Hey, don't treat our situation like it's some kind of game!
I'm beginning to think Noal is just irritated that the series he represents doesn't have any good units in it yet.

Yurika:Ruri, deploy the Distortion Field immediately!
Megumi:Wait! If we deploy the Field now, the terrain below the ship will be crushed! All the survivors are still down there!
Yurika:Then I dunno, lift off and deploy it or something!
Minato:We can't. After we land, the ship needs time to prep for launch. We can't do it immediately.
Yurika:This can't be happening...
Ruri:The enemy ships are taking position directly above the Nadesico. Reinforcements continue to materialize from the Tulip.
Inez: Deploy the Field or take the attack head on. You can only choose one.
Prospector:Captain! Deploy the Field! Now!
Megumi:But Akito promised them! He promised we'd save the people down there, and bring them back! We have to!
Yurika:......
Akito:......
Koji:Dammit!
Ruri:Gravitational wave detected from enemy ship. Incoming Gravity Blast.
Calvina: I know it's difficult, but we don't have time to hesitate. Captain, do you intend to lead this ship and its crew to their deaths? Your indecision could cost us our lives!
Seems like a bad situation doesn't it?

Yurika:...Do it.
It is.

Ruri:Understood.

The Distortion field activates, and crushes the shelter below the nadesico

Yurika: Ugh...
Elizabeth: I can't believe it...
Inez:It was only a matter of time. Even if we hadn't deployed the Field, nobody could have survived an attack of that magnitude. At least we're alive. ...It seems you couldn't become heroes, after all.
Akito:......
Hyoma: Guh... This... SUCKS!
Chizuru: Hyoma...
Ruri:The enemy isn't pursuing.
Minato:But our regular engines took heavy damage. We're unable to leave the atmosphere without repairing them first. What are we going to do now?
Uribatake:THis is a disaster! C'mon, we have to figure something out!
Ruri:Mobile weapons descending from the upper atmosphere. No data found. They are probably the same as Mr. Asuka's SPT. Here's the image.
David:Dammit... They came. Roanne, Eiji!
Roanne:That's right. We have no other option but to take them on.
Sayaka:So that's the enemy...
Eiji:The Greimkaiser... It's Gale. We'll launch, too. I have to fight him. ...Please, Captain! Say something!
Ruri:Captain. Come on, Captain. We don't have time for you to feel sad.
Fukube:She's in no condition to do this. I'll take the command.
Yurika:I-I'm all right. Proceed with the attack! Scramble!
Calvina:The Gradosian Army's SPTs... They're manned weapons, I take it? We should greet them Katia, Get ready. We're launching.
Note we're using a different subpilot now, Katia, as opposed to Festenia. More on this later!

Katia:Right.

Mission tomarrow, featuring several new units, including a new A-lister, our new pal, Eiji! Stay tuned.
