Is there any way I could encourage the Kobolds to move inside the fort? There are clouds of cursed soot rolling over the map and I REALLY don't want to have them get caught in it.

That's easy.

Make a corpse stockpile inside and then chop them up into tiny little pieces. They'll be tucked away safely inside your fortress forever.

No.. no... I want them in once piece so that they're easier to keep track of. besides, I'd rather them walk in on their own instead of my dwarves needing to carry them.

Thank you everyone for the help! I've since flooded the fortress I was working on and now have a new one going up.

Lure them into some cage traps so that you can release them into a free-range cave?

Kobolds are trapavoid, so that would be difficult unless he has a GCS handy.

Any if he did have a GCS handy... PIECES!

Ah-ha, true...  Then cattle herding methods will be your best bet.  Position dwarves around them to coral them into a cave opening.

They're not animals, I don't think they're likely to flee at the sight of an armoured dwarf. Plus they're all carrying stabby-stabbies of their own so unless he wants to go with my strategy after all it's best not to provoke them.

This is going to be a tricky problem to solve. Maybe he could collapse the very earth from under their feet and send them tumbling down a Z-level, then floor it over?

This does not work as planned.

Build a harvester with a retractable bridge and a cushiony pool under it. Make the pool the centerpiece of a themed cave funland with glass walls so all the Dwarves can watch and melt at the adorableness.

Capture them and use them for marksdwarf training.

Even though it only has a 1% chance or so of working, you could try washing them where you want with water.

It's also worth mentioning that the little buggers don't like to stay still. I only managed to cut one off on a square of land on my third attempt at doing so. Any intricate construction attempting to get them inside by some means is going to have to try and deal with them scurrying all over the place.

Now personally I would suggesting breaking their legs, but that's a little bit tricky to pull off since you still want to keep them alive, you sick bastards.

I know, I did. Aren't they just fuzzy wuzzy adorable when crushed into a barely-recognisable, delicious kobold jam?
