"Takedown", realistic tactical shooter
« on: March 31, 2012, 05:53:52 pm »

So here's another Kickstarte-funded video game. And this time is a FPS

If you like things like SWAT, Rainbow Six (the first few in the series) and the like, this may be right up your proverbial alley.
The game will be non-linear and you'll have to outfit your team and go toe to toe with terrorists. The emphasis is put on realism, so once one of your buddies is dead, he's dead for good. And you can't just barge in and spray bullets around in order to win. Tactics will have to be involved at some point.

Plenty of industry veterans are participating, and the project is almost completely funded.

ONLY A FEW HOURS LEFT, BY THE WAY !

Tactical shooters? Hell yes! Too bad shooters have bad rep as a game for the least denominator. The shooter games needs more spice like this.

Intruder seems to be going another direction, though.

I have the original Unreal Tournament on PS2.  Why would I possibly need or desire another manshooter?

Just so you know, if it's not funded then you get your money back.

You can't conceivably compare a tactical shooter to a twitch shooter. It's just not doable. Completely different gameplay and skillsets. You may as well say 'I already have Contra, why do I need another game with guns in.'

They do? I haven't noticed.

(Yes, I play shooters on both xbox and PC, no massive difference)

OT: I wonder if anyone will actually donate the massive sums of money for the Lan party

The project has reached its goal (and pledges are continuing to rise quickly). Someone did, in fact, do the $7500 pledge. There's still a couple of hours left for anyone to support this, essentially purchasing the game at a discount.

It's probably just an April Fool's joke. Guy might withdraw his pledge before time is up.
