I now have respect for waterfall-jumping dwarves
« on: March 31, 2012, 11:11:44 am »

So there i was, playin adventurer, when all of a sudden, bam, waterfall.
I'm all like wut. it was going into a major river, i think, no problem, i am an aquadate swimmer, i can cross this.
I accidently take one step too close to the edge, not realizing that i go in at my own.
BAM
PAIN
BLEEDING
DROWNING
NAUSEUS
UNCONCIOUS.
Oh, did i mention i got bumrushed by 3 alligators?
One fled, i managed to knock one unconcious, the last one ripped my foot off and ran off whit it.
Im going to cut all the legs from this last one.

EDIT:
OOOOOH!
THOSE BASTARDS CAME BACK!
Lets show them this.
One of them has a 'mortal wound' and is (i think) unconcious a bit further, the other one came back to me.

EDIT2:
Oh lol, a pike decided he wants to help me, so he jumped down and died :3

EDIT3:
I survived, and im heading to a town, i killed a dingo pack by throwing alligator tongues at them.

EDIT4:
The bogeymen got me.
FUUUUUUUUUU-

Even when ALT moving, you could still have problems with water pushing you.

No, trust me, it pushes you hard if you're anywhere that the water isn't 7/7. Like, 2-3 tiles per step, all towards whatever's causing it to drain, usually a waterfall.

Yeah, you have to be careful anywhere near waterfalls.  The water at the edge is only 2/7 or 3/7, so it's not considered dangerous terrain and you don't have to Alt-Move there.  You'll walk right down into the riverbed and fall to your death that way if you're not careful.

I lost a pretty good adventurer wearing what may have been the only human-sized set of iron armor in existence that way :(

To make magma-proof, set melting/boiling temperature higher than 12000. To make magma proof, set magma to be brewable.

Custom transformations got you down?

Trying to cross rivers without drowning Human McMeatshield is usually what I'm worried about.
