Drawception: a game of Miscommunication
« on: March 30, 2012, 03:59:56 pm »

Anyone seen Drawception yet?

Absolutely hilarious game based on the idea of the game Telephone, where each player takes the previous player's submission and either attempts to describe or draw it.

A game starts with a short phrase, submitted by one player.
Another player then draws the phrase.
Another player then describes the drawing.
This repeats until 12 unique players have submitted.

Then the results are revealed.

Here's an example

Game is so popular it had crippling server issues on Day 2 and had to move to a bigger and better server (and it's still having the occasional hiccup).  You can only have three games created at any given time, but you can participate in an unlimited number, otherwise.

Currently no "game completed" emails are going out (likely due to the server migration) but you can see recently completed games you're in in your profile.

Pretty funny

But my issue with games of telephone is that they get a LOT less interesting once someone intentionally tries to mess it up.

Behold my ability to make anything sound terrible!

There's a karma system and anything that deviates from the expected gets downvoted pretty quick.  For the most part it keeps people from just drawing penises.

We're doing Telephone Comics in the forum games area, but this sounds hilarious. I'll have to give it a whirl sometime.

It's freaking amazing.  Here's one I started (NSFW) and while I totally expected it to go dirty, it didn't happen where I thought it would.

From what I seen they still sort of ruin it intentionally. Often by intentionally saying what a picture is in the most cryptic way possible.

For example

A picture of an Orange

"A Sour fruit"

but I assume it is part of the game sometimes. Especially since games are too short to often get the sort of devolution you would want.

I'm sure I played this before, and it was called something else.

*checks*
Yeah, it was called Broken Picture Telephone, but I guess that version's gone now.
