Plus you now need half a factory complex just to stick a bit of metal to a stick.
Er... what?

I think he's talking about tinker's construct tools, which need a lot more to make but can be pretty cool.

Making a pick in gregtech is a bit more complex but you don't need a factory. You need a file, a hammer, 2 ingots, 1 plate, and 2 sticks.

Thankfully you can turn off the advanced recipes in Gregtech; but somehow it still interferes with the Tinker Construct mod when using iron.  I was never able to figure out how to fix that issue.

It does what now? I have gregtech and TC running with no problems.

That's pretty much what I was referring to. 'twas not a literal factory I was meaning.

Didn't GregTech "fix" the infinite water "quirk", too?

It's just the fact that the mod interferes with so many things, and the fact I use IC2 machines to help me build cool things. Gregtech makes the majority of the game time for me attempting to even get those machines.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

there is an optional file that makes water non-infinite. I don't generally use that because people would mutiny.

For reference, the total cost of making a iron pick with gregtech from scratch is 2 logs (for 4 planks for 4 sticks because gregtech halves wood recipies without saws, 1 stick for file and hammer and 2 for pick), 4 iron (2 for a plate and 2 raw for the pick), either 6 refined iron or 18 copper and 6 tin (for the hammer), then finally 4 refined iron or 12 copper and 4 tin (for file).

I usually check this thread: http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1210470

It doesn't have them all but it has many and he updates at least weekly.

I used to use a small mod for unlimited lava, before all the tech mods started using lava as a fuel source.  Lol.

A bit back I started just using ender tanks to pump in lava from the nether and fuel generators. It almost felt like cheating it was so easy.

On gregtech: I think get it. Most of what I could gather from google was that it was a mod for the IC^2 mod, and that the author had an Ego the size of the moon.

the author had an Ego the size of the moon.

This goes for the vast majority of Minecraft modders.

And this is me saying this. The guy who runs a DFTerm server and then dorf himself by turning himself into a god and making every hist fig in the game worship him.

(Though that's pretty tongue-in-cheek)
