SMP support is basically required for any mod to survive.

Of course BTW will need all the help it can get, considering it doesn't mesh with like ANY mods at all!

And yet everything BTW did first that made it popular, other mods have done better.  Then again BTW is a "less industrial" mod, where you still have to do things manually and it's impossible to set up crafting chains.  I guess some people like that.  Elf people.

It was pretty cool when BTW and IC2 could work together and they had the dynamo submod which converted BTW mechanical power to IC2 EU. You could have true hydroelectric dams and such.

because that sounds like it would have been awesome.
He intentionally made it incompatible with Forge, because he felt Eloraam was bloating it with too many hooks for her own mod.

It was awesome. I diverted a river and had a massive hydroelectric dam which generated immense amounts of power.

Yeah. His argument is a bit silly though. So what if she put in hooks which can be used by her mod? They could be used for any other mod too, and its not like having the hook there costs anything if you decide not to use redpower.

Well, the only thing I can say is: that was stupid of him. To be honest, if I made a mod, I'd make it compatible with as many other mods as I possibly could.
If you spend some time on the BTW forum you'll find out that flowerchild is not a reasonable or logical person.

I mean the mod was made entirely to spite the update that added wolves into minecraft, that is why it is named better than wolves. It was his point that a single coder could make more additions to minecraft than simply wolves in less time than it took them to do that update. Its also why you can torture and maim wolves in the mod.

Better Than Wolves whole purpose is to be as unfriendly to other mods and as unfriendly to vanilla as possible.  I mean you can call it what you will, but its foundation was built on "I hate how vanilla is updating, I'll do it myself." and from there the paranoia only escalated.

Question for people who have fooled around with Mystcraft:

I finally got a chicken to spawn on my sky island, waited until it laid some eggs, threw them until a new chicken spawned, and killed it for the feather. Time to go world hopping!

First world is in eternal night with bizarre wooden shapes going every which-way. I build a little shelter, bring out my link book, and attempt to place it on a stand, only to drop it on the ground by accident. I had no idea how to pick it up, so I punched it, hoping that it would drop like a block. NOPE. It broke.
Killing myself did not bring me home. Nor did creating a new link book and naming it Overworld. HOW DO I GET HOME?!
