I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

To the three who played TFCraft with me until four in the morning, I regret to inform you that the server won't be going up anymore. It seems someone disposed of my old server while I was away, so my dream of having it up 24/7 will have to remain a dream.

It was fun.
Aww, here is to hoping someone else makes a server so we can play again :)

Does anybody remember the name of the mod, where you could build an airship (or normal ship) put a block on it and drive it around? Its not movecraft, nor do I think it's airship.

some mod missing from the op that I like:

treecapitator: cut trees from the base with axes

logistic pipes: buildcraft mod with pipes that do intelligent routing and crafting on demand

minefactory: nice mod to automate farming, feels like ic2 (each block do stuff) and not like redpower (block does what block does and it's up to you to build stuff)

It's polite to provide links to things :P I already have all those mods in my browser history, so I'll add them into the OP later.

Not sure if anyone wants this, but since I can't host servers very well, I'm releasing the map we hacked at for hours. It works just fine in single player, though you'll have to do some hackery to get at our inventories.

The base such that it is is to the southwest of spawn.

Get it here.

Good luck finding Cinnabar!

Hell, when I tried TFCraft, cinnabar was about all I could find.  It and gypsum.  Useless shit.  This was back when granite (for tin, IIRC) was only found in one specific biome.

My seriously biggest gripe with TFCraft is inventory stacking, and inventory clutter in general.  It shouldn't matter what kind of wood a vertical support beam is made of, and why do we even have a differentiation between vertical and horizontal support beams?  Realism, my ass.  It's detail for the sake of detail, and it doesn't fit well with the game engine.

Second was buggy ingots, liquid metal, and metallurgy in general.  I assume that's fixed by now.

Third was the cave-in mechanics.  Including lack of info on how they work, and how to use supports to prevent them.  I just checked the wiki again, and it's still not particularly helpful.

But I'm grumpy today.

Cave-in mechanics were covered by a youtube video iirc.

But really half the point of the mod is to figure out stuff for yourself.

Though I am starting to see why people are upset about the mineral rarity. Hours in and I haven't found a single metal vein

Yeah, I've found TFCraft is really the sort of mod you play on a private server with a few trustworthy friends, so when one of you finds some tin, for example, they can be relied on to make tools for the other players as well.

Then again, it would be amazing as a pvp server I think. Imagine running around hurling flint javelins at each other while protecting the one or two people with metal weapons

My only problem with TFCraft is the lack of things to work towards once you have metal.

I hope the creator will make more content and end-game stuff to do, otherwise it's a really short-lived experience.
