Thirst mod requires ModloaderMP right now, I'll add it in once it moves over to FML.

Did you do the 2x2 Crafting mod? You can then actually live without a crafting box and make daggers and handaxes. Unless that's not part of your goal, in which case you should ignore me >.>
I'm currently looking for a mod like this :P

Oh, I see it's on hiatus. That's too bad.

Modpack
The installer source

Credit for actually putting all the mods together into the installer goes to The Darkling Wolf.

Contains:

Fishing++

Millenaire doesn't have a SMP version.

Just a thought. Does your Java architecture correspond to your computer architecture? I've seen people have some pretty serious lag using 32-bit Java on 64-bit systems.

Eh, Millenaire doesn't lag much at all for me. Then again, I have a fairly good computer.

So it seems I accidentally put my canteen in my wheelbarrow and didn't notice... and then I got really thirsty... so right before going to sleep I go to take a swig from my canteen and... end up snorting a line of low-grade meth.

Millenaire's terribleness builds over time. It's not too terrible when you have 1 nearby village with like 5 people, but when it gets up to something like the massive 34 population town I had on one of my maps, it becomes impossible to play when they aren't in their houses for the night. I then killed all residents of the town, and the FPS returned to normal; their pathfinding is a very big issue. It's made worse by the mod's seeming love of plopping down half a dozen towns within sight of one another no matter where you settle.

On a different topic, the micro-blocks in Technic are awesome. I've got a tower utilizing them to violate your expectations of the way minecraft blocks work to the point where it seems slightly non-Euclidean. :D

Don't forget that in order for the villages to interact in the best way possible you'll need multiple towns! And one of each civ if you wanna finish the quest.

Millenaire was a lot better back when there was very little competition, it seems like.

Dwarf fortress players eat euclidean geometry and shit out terrifying alien structures with no actual basis in any form of reality on a daily basis.
If the SCP foundation was real, we would all be under arrest.

I would assume if the SCP foundation was real we probably would not have ever heard of Dwarf Fortress as they would have it under lock and key.

Oh hellz yes. While traversing a previously cleared obsidian maze dungeon from BD, I fell down a hole into the boss chamber; the chamber which floods with lava upon the boss's death. Naturally I expected a quick death. My diamond chestplate and boots with protection 3 and my diamond leggings with fire protection 4 ate ate huge quantities of damage, my life charm healed that small amount which did get through, while the cleansing charm kept the DOT down. I managed to swim to the surface and slowly build a way out. In the process of this, my cleansing charm broke from full repair about 2/3 of the way through, my enchanted diamond armor got down to about 1/4 left from full repair, and my life charm went from full to 50%.

Which means... It has been experimentally verified that sufficiently advanced equipment allows us to swim through lava for not insignificant periods of time; possibly up to a minute! :D

Edit: Or perhaps more; haven't tested with full suit of fire protection yet.
