You can link a world anchor cart to your tunnel boring cart and it will continue until it runs out of fuel, boring a hole the entire way and generating new chunks.

I have been impressed seeing automation using minecarts. It fits the game better than pipes/tubes in my opinion. Not that it's going to stop me using the tubes.

Does Railcraft add any ores or will adding it to an existing RP2+Thaumcraft world get me all the goodies?

Railcraft doesn't change worldgen at all so you're fine. It does make crafting rails much more... involved.

And yeah I like automation via minecart as well. I plan to use it instead of just doing tubes everywhere.

I only learned about minecart linking (right-click both with a crowbar when they're near) just recently, and it's SO FUCKING COOL.

I would give it a 45% chance of working, since the developers seem to be in good relations and this feature's been in from RCv4

So Technic v7.0.1 is out.

Apparently hostile mobs are out of the question at the moment, though. (Anyone know how to fix this?)

Does anyone have a link to that one mod that lets the borders of glass blocks change in relation to whether there are other glass blocks next to them?
So instead of having a window full of individual blocks, it looks like one solid sheet of glass?

That's just an optifine setting.

Its also a mod called connected textures but that hasn't been updated since 1.0

Does anyone have any opinions on what'd look nice as walls for this building? I'm thinking of adopting it as my permanant design, maybe switched up a little with wool microblocks and such

When I did checked floors I did wood paneling with some kind of moulding at the top and bottom. Red brick, grey brick, wool of some color, etc.

Sounds nice, I've been experimenting a lot with the microblocks for building lately, now that the issue with lighting's mostly fixed.

The new dark wood would work well as paneling if it retains its color when cut into microblocks. Wish you could change the orientation so it is vertical panels.
