That could work, except I have two separate minecraft folders since the new world has some extra mods. I can't seem to figure out what file(s) store the saved inventories to move them over.
I'm fairly certain your research data is in a file in the saves folder. Try transplanting them one at a time?

I ended up essentially making a copy of the original minecraft folder, going into my copied original save, using your suggestion with the saved inventory, then loading up the mods I wanted into the copied folder and just using that as the starting point. Worked fine, if a bit of work.

Has anyone managed to design an omni-directional airship with Redpower frames yet?  My little island can only go back and forth, every time I try to add another direction things tend to break.

I can't even do anything with redstone except make double doors that open at the same time. Took me ages to do even that. I don't really know why I installed red power. :(

What in redpower are you having trouble with? Its pretty much straightforward.

I guess it just depends on what you need. For example, I like my resources to be organized. I hate to organize them though. So I make sorting systems... all my metals go in one set of chests, all my cobble goes somewhere else, etc. Redpower sorting machines are fantastic for that. Buildcraft logistics pipes are excellent for all sorts of things, like automated crafting machines.

Circuits are simple enough. Vanilla minecraft redstone is much harder. In redpower if you need a timer all you have todo is put down a timer and run a wire. What's not to get?
