I could have sworn that someone in this thread said I could use the duplicator on my dawn totems.  They'd be liars if they actually existed, which apparently they don't and I was just making things up.
Ah, you could actually duplicate them in a previous version of Thaumcraft but you can't now. The fact that they could be duplicated was a bug.

Enjoying ThaumCraft so far. Sadly had to stop using the portal to my cane farm when I noticed how much it was damaging the aura. Going to have to figure out how to lower taint and raise vis; Might even end up planting crystals as the vis doesn't seem to regenerate there.

I think I should just ditch Flan's Mod for 1.2.5, since ModloaderMP is supposedly incompatible with the latest Forge release.

Time to pack up for the new version, I guess.
then 1.2.x+ happens...

Most mods ditched modloaderMP support because it was a mess and forge now does everything it did

Vis will flow in from other chunks once it gets extremely low, but it's better to just use cauldrons to get vis, since you can filter out the taint.
Then you use condensers upgraded to take tainted crystals to lower the taint levels, or make a few totems of dawn.

Research Concentrated Vis.
It gives you a one-time vis boost to the chunk it's broken in, no strings attached but the things needed to make it.

I've found that the totem of dawn is pretty good at purifying/improving the aura. I've been stacking them on top of each other, i'm not sure if it improves the effect, but since it's a "totem" maybe it's supposed to be used that way.

Basically what i did is that i have a long column of totems in the middle/back of my tower, and i add more and more as i get more vis crystals to make them. It seems to generate a lot of positive charge, which apparently spills in the nearby chunks and improves the whole area as a result (positive charge generates vis over time it seems).

Also now that i have everything researched, i've been using my reed farm as a primary source of vis, it's really great for that. With a thaumium crucible, arcane furnace below it and 6 bellows, it generates almost only vis, the ratio is somewhere around 90% to 99% vis from items burned.

Any of you tried using a buildcraft quarry with thaumcraft ? i wonder if they pick up the crystals. I've tried using an arcane bore but they require too much micromanagement and i don't want to just sit there next to it waiting.

Edit : oh and by the way if you don't want to use too many crystals, you can duplicate thaumium ingots and enchanted fabric with vis. You can also duplicate ender pearls if you need to make many portable holes. I've also noticed that crystals seem to grow better if you place them in an area where wisps that drop this type of crystal are spawning. But overall i haven't found it to be a good way of farming crystals (it takes WAY too long to get back the 9 crystals you use to make the placeable one) . Killing wisps with a bow or wand seems to be the way to go. Then using whatever type you have the most for basic recipes, and recharging the depleted crystals to get more variety.

Sirian: Will have to look into that also.

Sad to find out that in RP2 pre5 wires, logic gates, levers and similar fall off when attached to moving frames. Despite this I did get one train design working.

Can anyone suggest any more mods? I have 16 block IDs left.

Could install MystCraft maybe? How is that installed? Into the .jar?

PS. I love MultiMC

Edit: Vattic Direwolf has released a video on the new RP2 release and in it he puts a stone panel on the frame and puts a wire on it and logic gate on it and the frame moves fine without them popping off. Maybe that will sort your issue?
