Better Dungeons did this to my game. There's one layer of sandstone and then bedrock. It may have something (what that something is, I don't know) to do with the dungeon 40 blocks away at the same level.

Better Dungeons generates an infinite cave at bedrock now. The floor is dependant on the biome.

Better Dungeons adds in a world-spanning cavern complex at the bottom level of the world filled with spawners and chests. It literally goes on forever.

It's quite awesome, but I was forced to disable it, because it ate up all my mobs (skeletons all spawned there).

Cavelayer = 0 disables it, just putting it here for reference.

Hrm, I am using technic and have built a mob drop tower. However no monsters are spawning up there. Is it possible to make it too high, is something in one of the mods affecting it?

I've never built an efficient mob tower (only used haxxed spawners due to failing to estimate the size of the room and overall distance), but I heard that mobs only spawn at a certain range, relative to your position.

You might have made it too high.

MCEdit, but it sorta got cancelled.

Yeah, I suppose creative is the only way... of course, you could program Builders or stuff from Buildcraft.

Single player commands comes with worldedit doesn't it?

(Worldedit is like an ingame version of mcedit)

I know that if you can use WorldEdit, you can mass-edit stuff. I used it to good effect on my private server.

Any suggestions on the height of the mob grinder? I won't be under it, but over on the side. Might have to make the landing area underground.

I think I have found the source of this thing. Dig down 4 or so tiles and you will find a RAIL TRACK that is spos to FILL that area, if it passes through water or such it has a GLASS COVER over it while the tunnel leaves the gap in the water.
There seems to be a placement problem, I think its Better Dungeons...

There's a bunch of mobspawner threads at minecraftforums.net. I think it was like 272 blocks was the spawning distance. I think the best would be to dig it underground.

Don't forget to clear out the caves for max efficiency >.>
