Thaumcraft just has a great setting, I've gotta say. I'm not sure how, what with not ext or plot or anything but every time I load it up it feels wrong if I don't make a huge wizard tower, preferably with pipes sticking out of it and winding between floors wildly.

Just so that I can start enchanting stuff properly. So far all I got is my crucible and an Infuser :D

Had to rebuild it completely tho, also that thing was a solid chunk, no interior space at all. Used a BuildCraft filler to mine an entire chunk of stone and other crap to make it.

Well I just successfully made enchanted wood, so everything is connected correctly. Since the furnace + iron block + fiery crystal isn't working I guess I'm just going to have to cheat in an arcane furnace/enchanter.

Ok the recipe is an iron ingot, not a block. I don't know what that didn't work the first time I tried it, or why none of the technic mods are fully updated with thaumcraft 2, but problem solved!

So far i've seen 2 different reasons for the infuser to be blocked : if another machine is consuming lots of vis, or, and most likely what happened to you, when you use a recipe that has parts which can do something else. In your case it could be that you placed the iron ingot and the fire crystal first and it was trying to make a thaumium ingot out of it when you placed the furnace and blocked the process. When that happened to me i could fix it by removing everything from the infuser, placing something else in it, then removing it and trying again, placing items in the right order.

Also, i'm almost done with the Feed the beast 1.2.5 map, i feel like it could use some tweaking, many items just need a ton of EMC and past a point they just give you bees and more bees and even more bees as reward. And there are even items they give you that you could have gotten differently (for instance i already had eggs when i received it as a reward, since animals can spawn on grass). I couldnt get an enderman to appear which was annoying since you need an ender pearl for one item, but then i watched a video which reminded me of a function of the philo stone to turn a mob into another one.

Towards the end i was mostly relying on my EE array to provide me with the EMC, so it wasnt very exciting and i afk'd more than once. I heard that there's actually a faster way to make EMC, involving mooshrooms, but i think by the time i knew about it, my array was already doing good enough that i didnt want to bother.

So yea the first items are the most interesting and exciting to make, like a puzzle, and then it's mostly a grind for ressources.

How the hell.

Anyway, I just realized something about thaumcraft. Wizard towers arent just thematic, but also a good strategy. If you create too much taint, you certainly dont want to be near the ground. Being underground also doesnt sound so good then. Meaning the only direction is up to the sky in a tower.

They're not all that rare. I'll find maybe 3 or 4 in a normal minecraft day of wandering around to places I've not been before.

It also seems like every so often you get a forest like that. I'm set up in a less impressive one myself. I'd like to find lone trees on mountain peaks and similar.

That would defeat the point of them being rare.
If you could grow your own taint-negating silvertrees, taint would lose its' edge. Surround house with silvertrees, sit back and laugh.

Having some form of Thaum dimension where they can be planted/grow naturally would be pretty snazzy.

Having some form of Thaum dimension in general would be good.
