Welcome to your new world.
« on: March 30, 2012, 01:13:26 pm »

Alrighty! So... I started a succession game with a very good friend of mine and today it was my turn to keep an eye on the dwarves for a whole year. Fair enough, I though when I loaded the save game and everything looked nicely modified after I last sent it to him. A few days passed by in the world of our Dwarven Fortress, one of the Dwarves even went insane and killed 3 children and 2 dogs, but that's not why I'm writing this message though!

I was just minding my own business, creating some beds and cabinets, letting them mine some ore, pretty much the usual stuff untill suddenly I saw the message "Urist McRangerdorf has given birth to a boy!". Hurray I thought, another baby dwarf that will grow up in an era of great fortune and a nicely built fortress. I'm completely new to the game, or well, I started playing it this week with a lot of help of my friend and found out that you can look around with "k" and sometimes read the description and thoughts of the dwarves... So! You guessed it, I looked at the description of the newborn baby and this is what it said...

Apparently dwarves are born with hair on their head, and the hair can be very long. What got me most was the description of the eyes and the teeth however, that in combination with the very long moustache and beard made me giggle for a while and so I decided to give this... Special Dwarven baby a physical image... So... Welcome to your new world, Urist McRangerdorf Junior!

It happens. One day, dwarven babies will grow hair like normal, but until then all creatures come into the world as hairy as they will ever be.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

That is hilarious! In never actually imagined what a dwarf baby would look like with all of its facial hair grown at birth. That picture is a good representation :P
