This topic is one of the most brilliant things I've read concerning Santorum.

Damn Nigerian anti war-monger.

Fun Fact: Typing "Santorum" into Google shows "Santorum n word" as the first suggestion. Doesn't matter what he was trying to say now, he may as well drop out.
Google adjusts its search results with your previous searches, so, if you had been searching for that previously, or, if Google, in its infinite Googley wisdom, decided that you would want to see it, it would appear in your results.

It also wouldn't be the first "Google problem" Santorum managed to overcome.  Well, technically speaking.

Too soon? Too easy? I could see a couple bits on it, but maybe they just decide to take the high road on this one.

They might honestly not know.

I know Colbert and Stewart didn't know about SOPA for months, but then someone who got to meet them told them about it and they immediately decided to look into it. It was on their shows a few days later.

all this Santorum coverage is going to ruin the Republican party's palatability.

That's like saying, "Whoops, I better not drop this shit sandwich, it might get dirty."

I remember this, and yet the depths to which their researchers go make it hard for me to believe they totally missed this showing up, even if it didn't hit CNN.

Because that would be really disappointing (not to mention ironic) if all the Daily Show does to line up bits is read CNN.

Too soon? Too easy? I could see a couple bits on it, but maybe they just decide to take the high road on this one.
the high road?

For TDC and CR, the high road would be just not talking about. I think point blank calling Santorum a racist on cable news might be more heat than Comedy Central will let them take. Who knows, though.

To me, calling a racist a racist is the high road. But I am weird.

The thing is; Republicans as racists is the stereotypical idea amongst things like the Daily Show or the Colbert Report. When that stereotype actually comes true it seems kind of lazy to capitalize on it.

Well, and where do you go? Stare straight into the camera and point a finger and go "RACIST!" That's really all they can do. Like he said, TDS and CR point out that rich white guys run everything and loathe minorities pretty much on a daily basis.

Although Jon does seem to love the bits where he gets to throw up his hands and go "I quit" lately. So who knows. Calling Santorum a racist without the comedic overtones would actually turn into a thing, I think.

Nah, as a comedian you'd say that you completely believe it was just a mistake, then accidentally call him a racist in increasingly implausible slips of the tongue.

The Daily Show really likes to make fun of the news coverage of events more than the events themselves. So I ask again, have there been any actual news organizations reporting on it? It does seem like kind of a nonstory.
