get a dwarf shepard.

husks? no problem.

Mayor: ... and then their bodies got back up and started to march on the fortress!
Liason: Ah yes, "Necromancers". The immortal race of magic users allegedly waiting in remote towers. We have dismissed that claim.

This is because the stream running through my embark has a giant sponge in it.
Both zombies are currently locked in an endless battle with it. I'm pretty sure they'll never attack anything else ever again.
(Also, incidentally, the giant sponge passed out from pain... I didn't know they could do that...)
This would be the equivalent of zombies attacking trees because a sponge is about as active. Imagine that in a zombie film - the protagonists run into the forest and suddenly the 300-strong hoard of zombies stops giving a fucking about them in favor of fighting the trees.

Not this type!!!
Not all evil clouds are created equal! Evil soot or ash leaves a residue. Fog, mist, and vapor do not.

[WEATHER_CREEPING_VAPOR] clouds are liquid, so they do leave residues.

.......
I am staring RIGHT AT a bunch of husks, right on this map. They have no residues whatsoever, they never DID have residues, they are not infecting the many bunnies and war dogs they get into scuffles with.

They aren't huskifying them, they're just mashing them into little bloody bits of bone and sinew.  Which then likely comes back and attempts to strangle the other bunnies.  Gosh evil biomes are just fantastic all around.

PS: Seriously, you must have, like, super-getting-lost skills. You could go missing in a straight corridor and impale yourself on flat ground if I don't tell you where to go.

Fortunately, the evil region I'm currently on does not have reanimating. Haha, that'd be wicked sick.
It does have non-residue huskifying clouds, loads of iron ore, and marble in the caverns, and both sand and fire clay, though..... ^_____^
