besides, most of old hammersong members were as useful in war as salt water is to a thirsty man.
you won't be alone staying safe behind the walls most likely, if you choose to.
which is good, because if our rate of armor use stays similar to S2, then we will need people to keep crafting more, whenever there is any actual fighting.

and arrows. there can never be enough arrows.

and of course building, mining, just talking... if nothing changes, the only thing that is asked from you is to be a good member of the community.

although I'll try to get as many people as I can to do some archery training... just a little training can do much. not enough to fight in a war perhaps, but enough to man the walls.

My only problem is I won't be able to diplomat as much. I liked being sent to beg for peace and returning with an inventory full of gifts.

I think MoM's problem was that the nation mechanics are rather different in S3. players will be divided in 6 "alliances", each following a god, and there is perpetual war among those.

such an environment offers much less opportunities for diplomacy.
that would basically be restricted to other nations in your alliance.

I suggest that the Bay12 Dwarves become the Famers and Miners of your GodNation. Build your farms, mine your earth...... I will find you... ^_^

Yeah, and people under our own god won't need diplomacy really.
So one of my main methods of killing time will be gone, we'll also be effectively limited to 1/6 of the map in order to build, which reduces our choice quite a bit.

I know. I consider it a step backward from S2 personally. I liked that players were masters of their own stories in the previous season.
but it is hard to predict exactly what the new season will be like. all the perks might be interesting.

Eh, I like the idea of having a constant war on really.

We're at war because the gods who govern the land are at war, and we swore allegiance to those gods.

I think I'd be OK with an S1 style thing where you're just at war. It would be cool if they gave us some objectives to fight over, even if it was with a lame excuse, like, "The team with their flag on this hill at the end of 24 hours wins" or something, with a reward. Maybe the reward is "your god won't smite you for your incompetence". :P

That said, we could sneak out into neutral territory and build the Great Ecunumical Temple for our secret meetings if we wanted to.

Constant war just makes alliances more meaningful.  The enemy of my enemy knows that I plan to screw him over later, but he's not above kicking our mutual enemy while he's down... and if I can help him do it, maybe he'll turn a blind eye to my forces for just a moment.

Just because you're not allies, or even friends, doesn't mean you can't have joint strikes.  Or Shakespearean tragedies, whatever.

It certainly seems that that is the intent already.
