Just strangle it.

Shift - A -> Enter -> Scroll down to throat -> Enter -> Repeat -> Mash arrow key in his general direction.

I'm sure that will result in many "you adjust the position of your upper arm on the rutherer's throat", since rutherer's are huge.

Then slit it's throat. Scratch it, bite and tear... I expect you to have kept your trusty copper knife, though, especially if you specialize in blunt weapons. How are you going to butcher them without a blade?

I wish for pulping as well, mostly because of the undead, but also because a hit message "transform it into mangled heap!" always fills me with glee, whatever game it originally came from.

Since skulls and bones can already be fractured or shattered, I think the shattered ones ought to count as offering next to no protection. It would make the mining through skulls end when there is practically nothing left between the brains and steel.
