you're right, i used hyperbole as a rhetorical device. i figured "rage" was a common enough internet colloquialism that people might not take it at 100% face value. clearly i was mistaken. allow me to say that rage would entail me dashing about my room, screaming and flailing. if you think that any reasonable person would do that...well, they wouldn't. attacking people who don't share my opinion...nope, didn't do that. i attacked the people that disrespectfully disagreed. i'm a child because you say so, and your reasoning is...nothing. good job man. nothing like baseless insults. since you're leaving, maybe we can have a thread with less posturing in it?

i miss having a loyalty cascade with twenty dwarves all candied out. it was fun to see who had the luck and skill on a super-elevated playing field.

This seems to be in response to my previous post, but it accuses me of doing things I have not done. Please show me where I was disrespectful. Please show me where I said you are a child. Please show me my baseless insults (or any insults at all for that matter).

Prior to my previous post pointing out one example of why people thought you were overreacting, my only two posts to this thread was an inquiry about how Kestrel keeps his war elephants alive and some info about the appearance of candy spires for masquerine. I've just reread them both, and I don't see how either could be remotely interpreted as being disrespectful or insulting. And neither were addressed to you anyways.

You do indeed appear to be dashing about this thread, screaming and flailing and accusing people of attacking you, even when they haven't.

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.

that's not to you man, save the part about clarifying my hyperbole. you had a valid confusion about the tone of the topic.

I, personally, like the new metal system. It makes the world seem more real when different items have different costs in bars. However, I do think that it should be easier to trade for metal to make up for it. It's annoying when I plead for the  mountainhomes to provide me with iron and flux and they end up bringing  too little to make a pair of _steel boots_.

EDIT: Yes, I know, it's just a bugfix. But it's new to me.

No, bad thread! No more getting derailed! Your God-King demands it!

*Ahem*

I never even had the chance to have Candy-clad soldiers when it was super easy to do. Gorerape had only recently discovered the stuff before I took a break from it, and I hadn't gotten around to installing the planned safety measures before I was ready to mine it. I guess I better cross my fingers that Wonderfortress is sitting on a plethora of the mythic metal, otherwise I'll probably just end up using it for aesthetic purposes.

Internet is serious business, kids. Barf human waste on all that doesn't respond "Hum, yes, that's a valid point of view, sir".

The only thing I don't like on the general metal system is that the frikken site finder doesn't pinpoint flux stones. Steelmaking for me has become increasingly difficult. I feel sad to resort on iron large serrated discs only :( (at least the candy superdwarf does his job right).

The cool thing is that metal is depicted just as right. You need either a massive ingot of iron to make a chain shirt or some small bars. The process of melting, smelting the chain links and actually LINKING them is arduous and slow, and some metal even ends up being wasted. Gritty realism for the sake of RP.

EDIT: Also, for example, Stronghold. To make an iron armor set, the little dude carries a 30kg iron ingot. You can imagine a 15kg armor being made of that. DF uses small bars smelted from small chunks of rock.

It's treated as completely normal because this is Dwarf Fortress.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with surrounding yourself with a wall of flames, only to later realize that you're surrounded by a wall of flames.
There's nothing that can't be solved by hurling fifteen roc birds at it.

"sniping" in your first sentence doesn't count as not derailing the thread. just sayin.

the mountainhomes are pretty much useless in the metal game atm, unless you jack up the prices super-high. not sure on how the booze prices have changed, but the caravan is much less useful now. at least i don't have to be as irritated at my broker for going straight from break to bed...lazy dwarven bastard/

Have fun.  An adamantine-coated tantrum spiral sounds hilarious.
