I've been a big fan of the game "Wolf" for quite a while, and I loved "Ecco", but I'm sure someone must have done better since then, considering when it was released.

So what are some games where you play as animals (and not just look like animals, but play as animals), preferably doing animal relevant things? Good or bad, we'll worry about quality later, right now I'm just interested in what the genre has to offer.

Hah, I played the hell out of both of those. E.V.O I'm not sure belongs on the list, as you often weren't anything remotely animal like in either appearance or actions, but what the heck. I'll throw it on.

Sim Ant definitely belongs.

Has there really been no game where you, say, fly around as a bird or something? With all the simulators out there? Bluh! Bluh to that.

I actually lost my copy when my computer got wiped last year.

Although this Wolfquest thing looks like it might meet my Criteria. I'd never heard of it before.

I wish there were more games in this genre myself. I've spent YEARS searching, and you've pretty much got the entire list there already. It's sad, isn't it?

In an alternative dimension, somewhere out there, Spore would have made this list too.

The only actions you can do would be:

1) Eat Honey
2) Go nuts and kill X.


Seems a shame there are so few games in the "Play as an animal" genre.

Oh man, I loved Okami. How could I forget about that.

I don't think the Life games would count, no, as you don't really play as those things.

Also sharks aren't animals. Everyone knows they are see robots.

Which Jaws game were you thinking of?

I remember at E3 playing the game for The Legends of the Guardians movie, where you fly around as an Owl doing things. It was pretty cool, from the few minutes I got to try it out. Might want to check it out.
