yeah i know thread necro but this is the only one this game has, ther are about 1500 weekly downloads from sourceforge, so its one of the more popular open source games.   GPL license so if u have programming experience and want to cut youre teeth this is a great little package, of course elite 4 is going to look much better but this one is still goodi n the graphics department, just needs more content really

my latest adventure took me 500 light years out from earth, found a nice little mining station and a nearby tourism planet to do some trading with, a big red giant star which looks awesome with a rapidly rotating mecury sized planet with a 100 day rotation.  Nice view

I don't see the difference between this and Frontier Elite apart from graphics, so it looks nice and has good gameplay but the gameplay seems dated.

From this point of view Pioneer is behind FE. Not all FE's features are implemented, yet.
But the game is promising for a single player endless space sim so kudos to the devs.

Tried this a while back, seems its still got the unfun Newtonian flight model.

If I'm going to fly everywhere on autopilot I may as well play one of the space muds.

I'm running into an issue where I keep seeing delivery messages to systems that apparently have the wrong destination or coordinates listed. The system I'm sent to is uninhabited, and they're at the wrong coords. What's worse, is that there's no way of directly inputting coordinates on the starmap.

I also dislike the fact that in combat there's no way to determine anything but the range to your oppenent. No seeing what ship class they are, how damaged, or even if you manage to score a hit unless you're close enough to hear your lasers hit their hull.

the latest build has a fix to the bug where crew dont go away if u downsize youre ship preventing u taking off.
Now when ship sold , all crew dismissed and rehireable i believe allowing u to pick which ones u need

I've tried several versions over the last few weeks, and everytime is the same story : loading screen, and when close to 100%, crash with an "AMD card stoped fonctionning" error from Windows system. I'm running the game under Windows 7 64 and my drivers are up to date, with a decent computer. I tried in Admin mod, not better.
