That's it, game over man. I just. want. to. tame. giant. animals. I got one adorable giant hamster. This was never supposed to be a giant fortress and certainly not a mountainhome. Fracking king just showed up. I never should have made those adamantine axes. I never should have donated that huge stack of masterwork roasts to the kingdom. I'm genning a new smaller world with more savagery, more history, more mega and semi and I'm editing my init to keep out pesky migrants. I'm setting up my cage traps better next time, too. I think I will use pressure plates to try to automate excluding some of the lighter weight riff-raff. And egg layers, I need to keep animal trainers off the eggs.
Animal training is a long term thing. I can't play ten years in any reasonable amount of time with a mountainhome full of hundreds of layabouts, and I've missed everything interesting training-wise just trying to run and protect an expanding fortress. Oh well, it's also given me familiarity with the ramifications of the new clothing system. Keeping dwarves happy just got easier, especially if you train up some skilled clothiers. Practically my whole fort is ecstatic, I have two dwarves with happiness over 1,000.
Edit: and the queen is a vampire. Definitely time for a new world.
