"Remy. Stay quiet and silent for now." Elenor said, putting the pieces of his armor back on.

"Let's just leave this area already."
He sighed and examined the scenario around them.

Check visually for loot. Skinning the hide of the leader of the graybacks, or any of them for that matter, is acceptable for getting loot.

"Hey steve." You speak into the air.
>Yes?
"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

See if the frozen jellies would still be alive if unthawed.

If so, attempt to make an electro jelly my minion. Dark magic or sweet talking or something.

If not, shoot one with the fun gun, then see if the other'd make a tasty popsicle.

Komas simply shrugged at Apollo, his oar over one blood-stained shoulder.
He watched the other, more mobile members of the team with his single eye, occasionally grunting with disapproval.
'Why couldn't there be any giant fish monsters? Ugh.'

>Shrug at Apollo!

>Watch everyone else with distaste!

>Follow the group once we get out of here!

Also, >In the meantime ponder the edibility of wolf, panda and greyback meats

Oh, and >Gather up any furs Apollo removes. Maybe I can use them for something later, don't want my hard work going to waste.

...hm. Well, that crashed remarkably fast.
In my defense, my computer also crashed during the week, so I have some sort of excuse.

SURPRIIIIISE!

Turn 29: One month or so 'till our first anniversary!

Taren:
Spoiler: Action (click to show/hide)

(6) You look around the frozen prison for exits. There are two. You smash a wall in with your sword just because, there are three now. Going out alone strikes you as kind of foolhardy, though.
...nah, who are you kidding. After a quick high-five to Komas which he barely dodges, you scan the area for skins - there actually aren't any, they're all wrapped around Apollo. So you take Apollo, and dribble with him into the newly created hole.

Elenor:
Spoiler: Action (click to show/hide)

(1) You see a lute in the frozen waters of a nearby lake. Obviously you try to free it, but break through the ice - turns out that particular puddle was in fact a volcanically heated spring. After a brief struggle to get out of the cooking pot you struggle up its ledge with moderate burns. Putting your armor back on to cool these burns didn't really seem to help.

Apollo:
Spoiler: Action (click to show/hide)

(2) It is rather hard to remove skins while rolling around, rocking over a stony cavern floor. Tiruin presses on, undauntedly.

Helskaya:
Spoiler: Action (click to show/hide)

(3) You focus all your emotions into your finger to heal your leg, but your confusion and mild anger isn't exactly optimal fuel for a shamanic healing spell. The leg begins to regrow, but only does so slowly and still hurts a whole bunch.

Maka:
Spoiler: Action (click to show/hide)

(4) Maka sees a jelly. Maka prods it with her scepter. Then Maka procures a pocket-sized prison, chisels the jelly out of the surrounding ice and places it inside, subsequently lowering it into the newly uncovered hot spring to thaw it. Her experiment succeeds, and as soon as the jelly begins to thaw she puts a little hex on it to immobilize it.
But then, she hits a roadbump. How do you minionize a jelly? Mind control? Does it even have a mind? You can't cyberneticize it easily either... anyway, it's harmless. She figures that if she later comes on an idea it's going to be a breeze to make this jelly Loyal Minion #1.

Remy:
Spoiler: Action (click to show/hide)

(6) Elenor would later summarize this incident as "Remy might be the mage with the single worst situational awareness I have ever met." Nobody got hurt, but the racket WILL probably attract nasties soon enough.

On the positive side of things, that was a lot of good target practice.

Komas
Spoiler: Action (click to show/hide)

(3) You can't quite decide whether wolf meat is proper cuisine, but it should taste decently in some sort of soup - that's what soups are for, right? - so you carve out a chunk.

Group's not really doing anything it seems, so you stay for the moment.

--

Tiruin meanwhile has reached a deadend. There only really was one path anyway, but now the cavern has opened up into some sort of ruin. He stops. Apollo vomits on his feet.

The main distinguishing features of this ruin are one control-panel-esque thing with nine switches in a 3x3 pattern, five of which appear to be flipped on. The panel is on a face of a grand stone pedestal, and far above the stone pedestal there is a treasure chest supported by six chains. There is a large letter on the column each chain is anchored to that corresponds with the letters on the switches, except for the middle switch, which has no column equivalent.

The switches are arranged like this:

Code: [Select]
AbC
dxE
GhI

And the chains are arranged in this pattern:

Code: [Select]
aBC
DTe
gHI

T is the treasure chest. The chains are of magical nature, and as long as there is at least one chain left the chest will stay afloat.
Capital letters = switch flipped on/there is a chain, lower case = switch flipped off/no chain.

--

There's three exits from frozen prison, not counting the entrance. One leads into Tiruin's cavern, the second appears to lead upwards and the third is frozen over, so it might go to a lake of some sort.

((Test period in uni, no time to think. May edit this post in the next three months with opinion on apparent puzzle.))

Elenor sits down on the ground and sighs deeply. If Remy's stupidity had already made him moderately angry, his most recent failure only made his mood worsen. "I will rest for a while. Not exactly in the mood to move around too much."

Just rest a bit.

((Well this is a pleasant surprise.))

"...hmmm..." Maka said in a moment of relatively quiet contemplation, her head tilted to the side and her eyes a bit too wide and unblinking. "It's gotta control itself somehow... or maybe I can brute-force it by controlling liquids?

...oooh, I wonder if there's something about it in here?"

((Ah. Hadn’t realised I had a healing potion. I don’t know if that would have worked better than jabbing my finger into my severed leg-stump. Since I am recuperating and barely mobile, I will apply my shamanic powers to the switch problem.))

"Ah... Ouch. Hmm."

The sudden shock of regenerating a lower leg made Helskaya shudder, even though it wasn't the first time. It made him feel as if he'd been asleep for months, only to be rudely awaked by someone jabbing a finger into his bone. He saw the hanging stuff in front of him. He tried to remember if he was a bear or a man. He decided on the best and, it has to be said, most obvious course of action.

Take out magic bong. Take out ONE slice of magic. Combine, whilst reflecting on how to solve the switch problem. Add another slice if this doesn’t work. Also continue regenerating leg. Take a mana potion at the end of my reflection period if it might be useful.

"'Ey, you."
Komas, after eyeing Elenor's plight for a moment, tromped over to where he sat and asked, gruffly,
"'At's a hot pool, aye? Reckon could come in useful, mebbe."  He turned towards the newly-made hole in the ice, pulling forth his fishing line and spiking a chunk of wolf meat onto the hook, along with the immortal tasty lobster for a bit of flavour.

>Whilst everyone else is being useless, hook a chunk of wolf meat and my lobster onto my fishing line, then lower it into the volcanically heated spring so cleverly discovered by Elenor.

>If this turns out to be a viable method of cooking, cook the rest of the meat, too.

Short recap, from memory.

- The party got into the dungeon this time by impolite request on Liz' behalf. Your mission is simply to explore this place, although Phoenix, the possibly-drunk informant who already had explored the new stratum a bit, hinted that there might be something up with the huge door in the entrance area. You would need three keys to open that door. You could consider your mission completed if you found out what lies behind that door, and make it out alive.
- Other explorers might be around and unwilling to share what they find.
- Elenor's comm device has a method to order a party recall, but it doesn't work when there are enemies nearby, or a boss encounter, or anything you actually wanted to run away from. Also, exiting before your mission is done is not something Liz approves of.
- I haven't forgotten about the sketches. Look at it this way: The longer you wait, the better they get, because I improve.
- The entrance area was a camping site. One way to the entrance, one way to the door, five other ways of which the party took the easternmost one. That way lead to a monster bar, which probably has devolved to a monster bar brawl by now.
- There were three ways out of the bar including the entrance: The other two were Diggle Country and the Jungle. You took the Jungle.
- The GM is a big fan of Quantum Railroading.
- You vs. monster zoo in Jungle, monster zoo didn't stand a chance, but Remy escalated the situation through strategic overshots - the party will probably evacuate through Taren's cave. Either at the beginning of the next turn or the end of it. That's the current situation.
- Re-reading this I might want to actually create a wiki for the setting. It's gotten pretty extensive and I want to remember all of it.
- Re-read the RtD because there's a lot of fluff around that might become important once again.
- Map is probably incoming. Since you didn't mention who mapped, I'll assume Maka did the mapping. You're welcome.
