(No points? Ah, oh well.)

Kahn pets the lizard at his side in a non-spiky spot and does a search of the room, staying away from the creature and its hatchlings.

Ire weighed her spear as she decided on two things. The latter was more beneficial than the former.

"Kahn, Popo, anyone else! there's a thin circular line in the ceiling at the center of the room, above the nesting creature. Probably connected to something. Must be the stairwell!"

Lizard follows Kahn, getting to know him via scent and sight...Also, protects him.

Ire goes over to pull that lever seen earlier! Also, watch for any movement other than her own, her allies and that lizard.

Azastre scratches his head and moves to Juha with a bit of difficulty; getting there, he tries to discover how Zalgo fell and why he did.

Go to Juha, inquire about Zalgo's demise.

Arianna frowned, crossing her arms and letting out a thoughtful "Hmmmm." Apparently some kind of wyvern or other not-dragon-but-looks-vaguely-like-one. She glanced over at Ire.

"Does that mean we'll need them to move to ascend?"

Try to figure out more about the not-dragons, like what they like. Train more Monster Appraisal.

In response to Arianna, Ire threw one of the many fluffballs at the lever...seeing as she was in stealth and all that.

"This lever'll find out!"

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Rod 5 surmises that it activates a heavy set of machinery, perhaps because it is connected to a great deal of gears barely visible past the intricate working of the level's base. 3

Kahn 1 isn't able to find a not-spiky part visible and or touchable. The lizard is completely covered in spines and spikes, and even the supposedly-smooth head has tiny needles like a cactus or a prickly pear. He carefully pets the lizard in the direction of the needles, as to not get poked.

4 Kahn wanders around the room. The floors are made of colorful semi-precious stones, and Shadow is breaking them apart right now. He pats the walls, gives a pillar a kick, and peers closely at a innocuous arch. 4 There is a tiny prism-shaped gem at the top of each arch. It's embedded into the masonry and shimmers in blue, with a sky-colored aura fluttering in front of each. It probably helps the floor's arches be windproof.

Ace 3 draws a circle in the air and watches the white path the wand carved out fade away into the night. At least something happened ...

4 He remembers something, and circles the air again and dots the center. A bright beam of light stabs out from the wand and strikes the keystone of an arch. Something shatters, and the noise in the room is suddenly at hitherto unknown levels. It sounds like great gusts of wind are rushing past the arch. A calm breeze picks up in the room. Calm and cool.

+12 xp to Geometric Magic.

Shadow 4,5,6->1 breaks most of the tiles into smaller chunks. He picks up an armful each of onyx, jasper, and obsidian.

3

Ire exits stealth and 3 pulls the lever that Rod wasn't touching. With a sharp clang and the creaking of badly oiled mechanisms, the circle in the ceiling of the room extends, protrudes, and falls straight down onto the spine of the dragon-like creature. It shrieks in pain as the full weight of the stairs rest on it. It flutters its wings in vain, while the pair of hatchlings it has chirps and hisses in alarm. 1 The dragon-thing spasms.

On the bright side, a way up!

Azastre 5 talks to Juha. She says that Zalgo wandered over to the arches, but as soon as he stepped outside he was taken off-balance. Unable to see the walls or anywhere to grab, he fell off into the deep sky.

Arianna 5,5 watches it writhe. The thin wings and the shape of its head, along with the relatively thin legs make her think it's not a dragon. 2 It wildly spins and shoots a ball of ice from its mouth, which flies out a window and is swept away faster than a feather dropped into a fire. Okay, not dragon.

Roana 5 vs 2 is dumbstruck as the "dragon" shoots a ball of ice from its mouth at nobody in particular. However, her heroic duty is to throw a snowball (of Destiny, too!) at the beast. Snowball away!

5 It hits the "dragon" in its flank and falls apart. A small shiny shard clatters onto the floor. It's a pearly pink and probably the size of her palm. 2 The dragon-thing steps on it.

"Oh dear gods NO!"

Ire was shocked -- surprised, then shocked, really -- when the staircase descended. It was too quick to notice.

And the poor creature.

"Argh, darnit. Someone heal the dragon! Sorry!"

Her hands went for the lever again, and she wedged her foot at the base to create traction for the re-pulling part.

Ace looks around, standing up from the wall he'd braced himself against the wind on.
Damnit, nothing is going right on this floor.
"Uh, what're we going to do?"
Try and help whoever is doing the healing.

Rod gives Ire a flat stare, resisting the temptation to clap slowly.

Use the giant rabbit pelt, sterling-silver railings, nesting material, and mirror shards to craft a cloak.

"Oh, good lord." Kahn sighed and went over to the lever, throwing it back into the UP position to get it off of the winged creature. Then he immediately runs back over to the creature to pet its snout and try to calm it down as someone else healed it.

Seeing Kahn's strength, Ire smiled as she watched the knight and his grit do their work. "Thanks Kahn, now I'll do my part!"
