Azastre is confused as to why there is just Popo nearby and Gretel is nowhere to be seen.

Azastre tries to find Gretel out of curiousness.

Then make a polearm out of the scraps of metal.

As the stairs shifted and the scenery changed, Ire noticed Ace following her up the nice stairwell.

"Weird place, this tower. I can't believe Popo can turn a whole floor into candy. Nice girl. Her sister also shows prowess.

"Sad to know that their home was destroyed by Backlal. I wonder how far up we'll get when we find out about him, eh?

"So, how are you, Ace?"

As the two reached the 'top' and met the servants, listening passively to the music beyond, Ire decided to engage in verbal entry.

"Excuse me my good people, we're travelers of the lands below and was wondering if we could be granted passage through this...erm, doorway. Do you both have any advice for us?"

"Strange, perhaps. Still, I'm glad to have done this. Now then, shall we see what awaits above?"

Approach the man and woman, politely--nay, diplomatically!--asking them for information on this floor.

Ire turned to see Rod following up the stairs, looking cheery while trying to hide a fatigued face. She nodded at his statement -- they were all tired and wanted to ascend this strange spire.

"Didn't notice you there, Rod! Where were you when we met the two young women in the last floor?"

((A'right, Rod is technically with us.  :P))

Since he apparently wasn't allowed to go bother Azastre, Kahn canceled the hex - or used another to go back to his original form if that was necessary instead - and went upstairs.

Ace stands to his feet, and looks around at his allies (and Gretel). Looking downcast, he breaks the news to them.
"Bad news folks... I can't find Sandra. I was looking for her, while you people helped those two."
He then turns his gaze to the two butleresque people, paying special attention to the woman. He shrugs, before sitting back down to think.
Ace tries to think of where Sandra would be.

Practice swords, return to Popo and Gretel and see if they're ready to go yet, and if they'd prefer if I waited for them or went on ahead.

Azastre 6->4

Spoiler: Non-canon. (click to show/hide)

Azastre pokes his head into the trapdoor and finds Gretel removing spears from racks, poles from hooks, and a variety of gloves from little boxes.

She looks up and notices Azastre, then looks down at a small maghony box she just picked up. She then throws the box at Azastre upperhanded.

6->2+2 Azastre is almost hit in the head, but he quickly dodges out of the way. Gretel calls out, "Take those, and be very sure not to burn them, or lose them, or make them into a cake." She grimaces. "Especially not a cake."

Azastre carefully opens the box. A pair of leather gloves that have cut-off fingers are inside. There is a flat plate that glows with a dim electric-blue color surrounded by a steel ring on the backs of each glove.

One pair +4 Gretel's Acceleration Gloves obtained.

"If you don't need them, give them to Ire."

She climbs up the ladder, balancing a large number of long weapons and a few boxes, and heads outside.

Azastre also uses the scrap metal... 1 and makes a spiky steel plate, good for smashing.

It also happens to be the size of his fingernail. o_O

Ire asks.

"Oh. Hello there. Welcome to Lotuisa's Garden. Do enjoy your stay."

The women curtsies and explains, while the man snaps to attention and swings the door open. The rich melodies of a full orchestra flood the hallway.

Inside, there are many people sitting, standing, or at tables. Some are talking, others listening to the music or wandering around, and a few are eating a small white fruit.

The "Garden" is actually a large room furnished with tall, thick marble pillars that are fluted and embellished, and with dark or light wood paneling. The floor is mostly rough stone tiles, about the size of two of Ire's palms, but around the many raised square gardens the floor changes to brick, with iron grates dotting it.

Dip +2

Rod 4

Rod asks the woman.
"This is Lotuisa's Garden. It is intended as a resting place for travelers weary. Do try the cham that grows in the garden part of the Garden. It is the sweet fruit of a annual plant that is a distant relative of the cucumber, and is said to have many beneficial effects."

Dip +3

Jack goes to where Rod and Ire and Ace are.

Kahn realizes it wasn't unable to bother Azastre, but rather just a "would you really like to continue".

Kahn cancels the hex and goes to where Rod, Ire, Ace, and Jack are.

Ace 6->1 admires the woman's bosom.

He thinks maybe Sandra would look nice with a pair of—

Cough. Glasses. Glasses, intellectual and cute and stuff. 4 He peers into the large room and scans the crowd. He thinks that might just be Sandra over there in the corner.

Arianna

4,5,1= 30 pt

Arianna checks on Popo and Gretel, and watches Gretel dump a bunch of weapons in the purple circle on the ground. Popo shouts something and jumps. The purple circle suddenly sports a set of complicated lines inside itself, then expels light all the way up to the sky. When it is gone, the many items that were inside the circle are nowhere to be seen.

Gretel spins her trusty spiky ball-ended pole and heads off towards the stairs. Popo follows.

Spoiler: Non-canon action (click to show/hide)

Azastre returns Gretel's always-angry stare curiously and thanks her for the gloves before wearing them. They certainly seem nice. On the other side, his attempt at crafting a polearm was a disaster...

Azastre follows Popo, Gretel and Arianna.

While trying to create a polearm out of marble and silver and reworking the spiky plate into a tip for the lance.

Rod whispers to the others, "This place may not be what it seems. I can't speak for the rest of you, but I'm going to be avoiding those metal grates, for one."

Rod makes his way to the garden, carefully avoiding the metal grates. Once there, he picks a single cham and nibbles off a tiny bit.

((Don't you mean...fingerless gloves? Scary to imagine gloves with fingers still in them!))

"This place may not be what it seems. I can't speak for the rest of you, but I'm going to be avoiding those metal grates, for one."
"Let's try asking. Excuse me, ma'am. Who is this, Lotuisa? And why does she have a garden about fourteen floors from ground level?"

Ire was cautious upon seeing the magnificence of the place. She could feel the calming atmosphere and the sophisticated air that most of the occupants had. It was like dining with the rich back in her village, as an uninvited guest...again.

She noticed the clanking of metallic sabatons from behind her, and saw Kahn coming up. "Sir Knight! Look here, a place fit for the nobility!

"This is...pretty strange. Have you seen Popo and Gretel lately? And that witch they were talking about? Didn't see you most of t-

"Why is your spear coated with blood?"

Without waiting for an answer, she attempts to grab the noble knight by the arm and whisk him away into the garden, examining the place with excitement.

Before that, ask the nice gatekeepers.

Sir Kahn found himself whisked away by Ire the second he went upstairs, but he didn't mind in the least going for a walk in the garden with her.

"Hmm? Oh. A witch. She got away," he said, glancing at his spear momentarily.
