Dwarves changing their names??
« on: March 26, 2012, 01:41:16 am »

Does anyone else have a problem where dwarves will change their name to something different than what I provided??  This only happens when those dwarves are going into battle.

it's a feature. They get titles after a few notable kills. However, instead of being called "the mighty" or "goblinslayer" they go for names like "the bronze chutes" or "morningdusted".

I just change their names back to their previous boring names such as FightSword1.    :D

In stead of changing their names back you might want to make sure that dwarf stays happy, drunk and well equipped; because a named dwarf with a named weapon is a one-man-army :p

You can have professions like "Axedwarf" and "Speardwarf" to indicate what equipment they need, for retired miners I add a profession named "Soldier".

This happens to me, dwarves lose nicknames I gave them and revert to their normal names
if they score a kill.

They don't have legendary names yet, they just revert back to their normal name.

Stop using Dwarf Therapist to assign nicknames - it doesn't know how to do it correctly, so they end up disappearing once the dwarf gains a title.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
