I somehow managed to have a forgotten beast made of native silver pinned down unable to attack me and the captain of the guard is just sitting there whacking at it with no end. Is it even possible for her to kill it with just her fists? She has managed to dent it quite a lot and has gained massive experience, but I know she's going to get hungry or thirsty and I'm not sure which would come first...

well, if the forgoten best is unconsious, you can build a trap over it and cage it for later use,

or you can make some other person switch out to do it

It's in a up/down stairs block and it is able to shoot webs so all of my army is now stuck in the tunnel. I'll probably just dig around and attack from another side. Apparently it prefers shooting web or something because it refuses to attack besides webbing.

check its stats, dose it still have all its arms? cause i know you dented it, but you could have lopped its arms off making it un able to attack with mealy

I had a beast that could spit and it seemed to never use any other attack regardless of range.

unless the legs were also cut off it would kick, and unless the head was cut off it would bite. If the head was cut off, it would be dead.

Forgotten beasts made of inorganic materials (like silver) don't have blood or internal organs, so the only way to kill them is by cutting their head off, or severing their lower body.  (Assuming they have those body parts, blob or shell type forgotten beasts don't.)  Getting those kind of severs usually requires a cutting weapon harder than the material the beast is made from.  You are very unlikely to ever see a dwarf do so with their fists.

Make some metal axes or swords, or drop a cave-in on it.
