Author Topic: Bug #3708: Ghost names that can't be engraved on a slab (Workaround??)  (Read 598 times)

So some human merchants/soldiers were slaughtered by a goblin siege and it looks like I have at least three of them with this bug.  No ghosts yet, however I want to do anything/everything possible to avoid this bug because the last thing I need is a permanent ghost(s) killing/scaring my dwarves.  Upon reading the details of the bug it seems one individual wrote a memory hack which worked as a workaround. 

Where might I find this workaround online?


Also would moving their corpses to the corner edge of the map help keep the ghosts only haunting the corner thus far away from my dwarves?

I think only dwarves can become ghosts.

1. Only members of your own civ will produce ghosts. This includes merchants/guards from your civ.
2. Ghosts will spawn everywhere and follow Dwarfs they'd never seen in life before. Moving their corpse does nothing.

That's really good news that only dwarves can be ghosts.   So I estimate the wiki ghost definition is incorrect??

I would think human soldiers/merchants would be intelligent.

I'm working off .31 knowledge, and the fact that I've never seen a goblin spawn a ghost in .34

Goblins have the [INTELLIGENT] tag too.

So my .31 knowledge isn't outdated then ^~^
