Does the old stand-by of "walk into tavern/bar/pub, get quest" still hold true? Or has the world gotten less adventurous in its modernness?

The world itself is still pretty adventurous, adventurer is still a common 'job'. The chance of finding a quest or such in a pub is probably pretty low though, as there is less of an immediate threat of bandits and the like right outside of town, in the more densely populated parts of the world. You might be able to get some leads to a ruin, or the like though.

Or you could just do what I am and go looking for random forests.

I'll tell you that Elkwich was a good lead for a place to go adventuring though.

Nowhere is too far for Modboose. He ran 26 kilometers in what I assume to be under two hours.

Legacy is an older version. SDL is the latest.

My advice would be to get SDL. Legacy is fun if you want to punt people across the map in adventure mode, but otherwise SDL is superior in pretty much every way at this point (and if you mod the game enough, you can punt people at least a few squares too)

Yup, quite some time ago I ran a Forum Game called 'Medieval' on the Minecraft Forums for a little while. I believe Real Life interfered and it ended up dying though.
