Grab my money and hustle to the armory. Sell off my boots and buy combat boots fitted to my size, 6 more empty clips to put in my packs side pockets and a box of normal ammo. Then head to town quickly to the leatherworks and sell off my shoulderpads and buy heavy leather leggings and 2 heavy leather shoulderpads. Head back to camp and put it all on, filling the empty clips with the new ammo. Grab something to eat and drink on the way to the town too.

The Mages' Guild allows the practice of some of the Darker Magic, to a limited extent at least. The true darker side of magic however, is a much more difficult thing to get yourself into.
Spellbooks and Tomes for such things aren't something that's simply produced by the dozen, so they're a rarity and quite valuable to certain parties. A different approach would simply be to find someone who has the experience to teach you. However, finding such people wouldn't be very easy either. Most of them aren't going to go around telling just anyone what they're dabbling in.
Something you're somewhat familiar with, is a certain, mysterious group known only as 'E.V.I.L'. They're said to have been around for hundreds of years, but most consider them little more than a myth or legend. You aren't even sure yourself whether they do exist or not - After all, how could such a supposedly large group keep themselves hidden away so well?
