Hey everyone. As you've probably all noticed, the events of your first arc are already kind of planned out.
However, it would be really awesome if you could all come up with between 2 and 5 long term goals for your characters. These need not be goals your character actually has, and could instead be things that you want for your character eventually. They can be mundane or supernatural, and they can lead to acquisition of merits. They should be listed in order of importance.
Here's some example goals for two characters of mine, the setting is 1940s Boston.
-Find and personally revenge self, and former military unit, on Cole Harris.
-Acquire enough money to marry Rosie and move into a nice house on the beach together, leaving the PI business behind.
-Discover the whereabouts of his former mentor, Benzaiten, who he was separated from at the beginning of the War. (Completion may result in acquisition of the Mentor merit)
-Discover who took down the Three Branches Cabal.
-Acquire the Forest Emerald from Elias. (May result in Resources)
-Find Evelyn before Micky and his Gang do.
-Find out what happened to her father after they fled from France.
-Acquire enough money to move to Los Angeles and/or be discovered by a movie producer. (May result in Resource or Fame dots)
-Undergo the First Change and become an uratha.
Once both of us know what your goals are, we can begin to work on them. Some goals (such as Rosie's urge to move to LA or Orchid's urge to marry Rosie) can be weaved into other arcs as a secondary plot line, while others (Rosie finding Evelyn, Orchid solving the Three Branches mystery, or Rosie becoming a werewolf) may need to be the main plot of an arc or arcs.
Either way, I need to know now so that I can work on planning for any of them. Please do not be afraid to add strife to your character's backstory if it will aid in the creation of these. So long as it isn't paranormal (unless, like Orchid, your character has already undergone the change necessary to become a paranormal character), or the paranormal aspects are sufficiently able to be written off as mundane, it should be fine.
I should also note that I make no promises that your goals will be immediately dealt with. Rosie's player should not, for example, expect me to throw Evelyn's location to her without her first trying to find it - and if she doesn't try to seek Evelyn out, she may end up dealing with something unrelated or only tangentially related until either she does so or Micky and his gang beat her to it.
