Dwarf lost ability to stand

the last time this happened in game my dwarves just kind of withered away in bed resting and never walked again.  However this new game my chief medical dwarf put casts on two of them and gave them crutches and there up and walking about.  Are they eventually going to lose the cast and be able to walk around without a crutch or is there still a glitch with that.  Can they ever fight again? There both marksdwarves
Any answer would really help thanks

They only need one hand to shoot and best of all, it can be the same hand as the one holding the crutch. When they level their crutchwalking some you'll hardly notice a difference between them and normal dwarves.

They'll be completely fine! The bones'll heal and they'll be as good as new, minus a few.

They can even fight WITH the casts  and crutches.

I think that as long as they don't have motor nerve damage they can heal and walk again on their own.
