I'm not going to let you put miniguns and missiles on your mecha unless you turn villain and are willing to cause large numbers of civilian casualties and property damage.

Oh dear, I guess I shouldn't have thrown out the Superpowered Rampage script out after all...
(Also I think you meant to link to this  :P)

((I have already said, and I quote:
((Well, our characters have some common sense; even if they wanted to go on a rampage they do not even know their superpowers. It would be too risky. What could possibly be better than having the goverment teach you how to use your powers and then use these against them?))
Evil smile. That link also works. :P A player villain is one of my dreams and one of the things I am implementing in my future RTDs. So Nicholas is my guinea pig and Evil Avatar.))

((I like how, despite sorta failing, my character earned the most reputation from that mission.))

No no no! I'm not supposed to get some goofy comic book name like Sonic Boom. I really need to think of something better, but there are so many choices.

Thomas will spend his training time practicing very brief 2x time manipulations, trying to learn enough finesse with his powers that he can perform multiple flash steps in one fight without waiting out recoil in-between. He will aim to start the next mission with 15 minutes of personal time in 4x recoil.

((Now do we need Tiruin's action? He did post his choices already.
Edit: My first mechas will be unarmed. Also, I ended up revealing my plans, so I kind of ruined the surprise.))

Is it ever a surprise on Bay 12 when someone uses vast amounts of firepower for mass slaughter?

((My character shall be a little more complex than only mass slaughter, though.))

Re: Roll to Be Heroic - Turn Five! In which Ides joins the party.
« Reply #68 on: March 25, 2012, 07:07:18 pm »

Tiruin: welcome to the Super Party.
Caellath: we'll all try to act very surprised when you go villainous.
Nirur Torir: that's the media for you :P Totally not me being uncreative.
Also, I'll be dropping the after-action report narrative style for a more conventional one.  It'll be easier for everyone involved, I think.  Without further ado, Turn Five!

It takes only a few days for Agent Ires Reon to arrive at the FDSPA's Aventin base.  Like the others she has enhanced physical and mental abilities, as well as instantaneous reflexes and the ability to see the trajectories of moving objects up to two seconds in the future.  Though she has yet to go into the field she shows great promise with her weapon of choice, a composite bow.  Until then the rest of the team trains.
Agent Fortmüller spends his time applying himself to advanced robotics classes.  He can now build a more advanced robot before missions that can be made to do small tasks.
Agent Maxwell spends her time trying to make up for her mistake with the flashbang through training.  (+1 to grenade throwing)
Agent Green spends his time sparring and gathering energy for the next mission.  (+1 when using your superpower, next mission only)
Agent Jackson spends his time training his power and gaining time for the next mission.  [3] He's able to reduce the time he spends in recoil by 25%!  He also spends fifteen minutes of his time slowed down, so when he needs it he can go eleven minutes fifteen seconds at four times the speed of the rest of the world (because of the now-reduced recoil time).

After Agent Reon has gotten settled in Aventin, everybody reports to Waylon Brown, who has your next mission.
"Alright Agents, this is your first big mission.  Actually, for Agent Reon, it's your first mission, period, so you'll be supervised by Agent Wash.  We've managed to track down the hideout of a mob boss on the north side of town, but the problem is he has an unknown number of suits of powered armour and pilots there.  The local cops already lost a couple of their men and they're pissed, so lethal force is authorized on this mission.  You'll most likely need to subdue everybody in the warehouse in order to get to the boss.  The cops want him alive.
"One more thing.  Dr. Colt has upgraded your equipment; now your face masks enable you to communicate with each other over a secure radio channel, protect you from gas, let you see on a heads-up display where your teammates are relative to you, and *ahem* protect better against flashbangs.
"Are there any questions?"

Nicholas raises his hand a little.
"Any good spots for sniping?"
He also considers using a robot to scout ahead of the group.

Caellath, if you still want to build a robot I'll assume you're assembling it right now.  You'll need to let me know what you want it to do in your next action.  Turn Six is here to save the day!

Before you can finish asking your questions there's a beep from Brown's new desk.  "No time now, your ride's here.  Agent Wash and our police liaison will do their best to answer your questions.  Go!"
It turns out your ride is an armoured police van, where Agent Wash and the police liaison are waiting.  The cop introduces himself to you as everybody gets on board.
"So you're the new supers, huh?  Look the part, too.  Those black masks and suits'll keep the scum scared, that's for sure.  I'm Officer Macmillan.  I'm the FDSPA-APD Liaison.  You need anything just let me know."
Before you can introduce yourselves Agent Wash speaks.  "I believe we've met before, Officer.  I'm Whip Lash, if you don't remember.  We worked together on that Thorne case that one time.  The rookies are Sonic Boom, Fire Fighter" he points to Desmond, Jennifer, and Ires "um, Red, Blue, and... Green."
"No codenames yet, huh?  Ok, well anyway, let me take your questions, then we'll go over the situation and our tactics one last time before we get there."
"Any good spots for sniping?"
"We can set you up on the roof of the building across the street.  We've already got a couple of our own snipers up there, actually.  Unfortunately the warehouse has no windows and the big door is closed.  Getting it open will be a priority."
"Are there any entrances from the roof?"
"Grapnel user, huh?  Like that Anchor guy in New York?  Sorry, your question, right.  No, the only entrances to the warehouse are a small door for people and a big door for trucks, both facing south.  Not even any windows, like I said."
"Are there any civilians left in the area, or have they been cleared out?"
"Civvies are all out of the area.  We've set up a police line three blocks in every direction from the warehouse."
"Do they keep the front door guarded?"
"Like you can't imagine.  At last count there's at least two suits of powered armour and another four guys with guns guarding the doors ever since they realized we were coming for them."
"What are the best places to hit their model of powered armour with a sword?"
"I dunno, sorry.  Never tried it myself."
Agent Wash speaks now.  "The back of the knee, under the shoulder, and inside the elbow are where you want to try and hit.  Those are the largest joints.  Or, I mean... you know what I mean.  Where there's no armour."

"Right, if you say so, Lash.  Anyway, if that's all your questions, here's the plan.
"You, Sonic, you can run really fast, right?  So, once we open the little door, we want you to get inside the building first to hit the switch that'll open the big door.  At the same time we'll have a demo team blasting openings into the other walls.  Once those are opened up Red, Blue, and Green with Lash lead the charge in through those, backed up by our SWAT armour of course.  We don't know exactly how much resistance we'll be facing, so after the initial entrance we'll be feeding you data through your radio links.  Us non-SWAT cops will be surrounding the warehouse, preventing anyone from getting out.  Fire, you and our snipers will be sniping, obviously, so I'll leave that bit up to you.
I think that's about it.  We're here, if you have any more questions, ask them now, otherwise, we're going in in ten.  Let's go, people!"
