Re: Roll to Be Heroic - Turn One Hundred Twenty-Three! In which the title is cu

Turn 123.  You lot do like to talk, don't you?

Agent Reon quickly counts to three and tosses a flashbang, [4+1] stunning each of the powered armour pilots and dazing the gunmen.  She waits for a teammate to execute hit-and-run tactics with, but Nicholas and Desmond are both busy with the direct approach and Lisa's on the other end of the street, so she simply takes cover by a house on the far side of the street.
Agent Maxwell grabs the pistol and the card, then takes the earpiece out of the fallen foe's ear and puts it in her own ear.  It squeals and hisses for a second, then a distorted voice punches through the constant static.
"-ndevous at M*pop*iver, Blue Unit *buzz*r Six Six.  *buzz, pop*onfirm, Magenta Two Fiver Oh, routeing units to your posi-*squeal*"
Agent Green talks to cover the fact that he's preparing an attack, but Ires tosses a flashbang before they can answer.  He fires his kinetic blast while the airborne suit is shaking his head out, [6+2] knocking him spinning away into the air far out of view.
Agent Fortmüller tries diplomacy as he readies his big guns, hunkering down behind a rather small meridian as he opens fire.  [5+1] [3+1-1] [6+1-2] [4+1-3] In his first volley he fells three of his opponents, two dead and one heavily wounded, before finally missing.
(2-1) (2-1) (3-1) The dazed men in black fire back but hit nothing.  The remaining powered armour units are unable to fire their heavier weapons at all, blinded by the flash enhanced by their own suits.

Agent Conners subtly backs away towards a nearby window, planning on making her move as soon as Ires causes a distraction.  When the flashbang detonates [5] she dives through it perfectly, untroubled by the shattered glass and short fall on the other side, (2-1) and safe from the wild bullet fired as she made her move.  By the time the gunman recovers and makes it to the window Lisa's already hidden and covered, waiting for him to close to short range.

Nicholas turns on his internal sound systems and starts to listen to ZZ Top and The Doors while taking down the armored enemies, occasionally bursting out in bouts of wicked smiling and singing.
"~You got to whip it up
And hit me like a ton of lead~"

Keep shooting with the particle gun at the enemies with power armor.

Wait until the sucker gets close, then pounce and drag him through the window while draining him unconcious, making sure to grab his weapon arm to keep it pointed away from me. When he's down, search him for items of interest.

Jenny moved into the nearest cover beneath Nicholas so it was unlikely she'd get hit by a stray bullet, then aimed at the nearest unarmored target's kneecaps with the intent to disable. Maybe then they could get some real answers out of these people.

(If there are no unarmored targets, Jenny will simply find cover and continue to monitor her earpiece.)

Drop smoke at my position as a decoy, then move onto another position which serves as an overlook on the whole scene.

Try to survey for reinforcements, or the positions of the enemy to our location.

Turn one hundred and twenty four.  Sorry for the delay, I've been away.

Agent Fortmüller sings cheerfully as he fires at the remaining armoured targets, [5+1] [1+1-1] blowing a hole straight through the chest of one more before his particle gun suddenly sparks and stops firing.
Agent Maxwell takes cover near Nicholas, leans out, and fires a single shot at the nearest gunman, [4] shattering his kneecap.  He falls to the ground with a pained cry and tries to crawl away.
Agent Reon drops a smoke grenade at her feet and runs behind the buildings to her right as soon as it explodes, [4+1] before climbing up to the roof of a house from which she gets a good side view of the entire street.  To her left Desmond and Nicholas, and probably an invisible Jenny judging by the gunfire coming from nowhere, are exchanging fire with the remaining enemy forces directly in front of her.  At the moment there are just one red-coloured powered armour suit and two black-clad gunmen left standing, with one green-armoured and one unarmoured man wounded and out of the fight.
Agent Green fires another kinetic blast, [1] but his energy reserves are too low for it to result in anything more than a light breeze.
The powered armour pilot shakes his head and fires a rocket towards Nicholas, (4-1) which blows up the concrete barrier he's crouched behind and knocks him on his back.  [2] Jenny fails to get out of the way in time and the Warlord II pins her to the ground, uninjured but unable to move.  The wounded pilot passes his rifle to the one that just fired the rocket.  The remaining gunmen keep firing, (2) (3) harmlessly winging Nicholas and missing completely.

Agent Conners lets her mark get close before [5+1] lunging out, grabbing him, and dragging him inside, cutting both herself and her enemy on broken glass as she does so.  [2+1] She starts draining his energy as she fights for control of the gun, slowly gaining ground as her foe weakens every time she can get a touch in.
(3-1) The man stays on the defensive, unable to counterattack.

Jesus, that armor is heavy. How does he stand wearing it? Jenny grumbled silently.

Jenny attempts to get out from under the Warlord and kneecap another unarmored guy.

Desmond grimaced. He had neglected building up his kinetic energy during his holiday with Ires...but she had a way of making him let down his guard, relaxing...letting go.

Hopefully no one would pay for it..

Action: Move into melee and proceed to pummel, building up my kinetic power.

Grapple and disarm the gunman and do a hard and fast drain to knock him unconcious. Then head back to the fight in the street and prepare to flank from behind or the side.

"Wow, that was subpar." Nicholas said with a mischievous tone before getting back up.

He then frowned as he stared at the particle gun.
"And it was brand new."

Fix particle gun, get into cover and take down last power-armor gunner.

((Well, Nick is on top of Jenny. Not the right way, though.

Also, how many power-armored guys has Nicholas killed or taken down so far?))

Blunt Arrow to that Power Armor that isn't being attacked or seems to be the most aggressive - a danger to my allies.

Re: Roll to Be Heroic - Turn One Hundred Twenty-Five! In which friendlies fire
« Reply #1258 on: November 18, 2012, 01:41:12 am »

Turn one-twenty-five.  Nicholas has killed three powered armour guys and wounded one in this engagement, which means I apparently need to toughen up my Elite Mooks.

Agent Maxwell gets free of Nicholas as he gets up and shoots at one of the remaining gunmen, [5] destroying his kneecap.  He passes out on the ground.
Agent Green moves into close range, [6+1] building up his energy by uselessly punching the bemused powered armour suit.  The pilot stares for a second before (6) throwing a few ineffectual blows of his own, building up Desmond's energy to a more acceptable level.
Agent Fortmüller gets up off the ground.  "Wow, that was subpar.  And it was brand new."
Finding some intact but comically undersized cover, Nicholas fiddles with the particle gun, [5+2] and fires at Desmond's boxing partner, [1+1-1] unleashing an uncontrolled particle beam that hits Desmond instead.  The particle gun sparks again and is useless once more.
Desmond isn't able to absorb the huge amount of energy from the overcharged particle beam as it rips through his upper left arm, leaving a ragged and bleeding wound.  He falls to his knees, nearly passing out.
The remaining gunman turns and starts to run, nearly running head-on into Lisa.

Agent Conners grapples with the man [5+1] and finally manages to drain his energy.  He slumps down onto the floor and goes cold.  Lisa heads back to the street and takes up a flanking position in the rear, just in time to witness a comedy of errors resulting in Desmond nearly getting his arm shot off.  A fleeing enemy nearly barrels into her while she's gawking.

Agent Reon fires a blunted arrow at Desmond's pugilistic pal from the right flank.  [2+1] The arrow strikes her target's chest and bounces off just as Desmond is shot.

((Really, now?))

"Ooops. Well, whatever."

Enter melee, RIP AND TEAR the remaining armored man.
