Is there a hack to turn your initial 7 dwarves into vampires?

If so, has anyone tried using that and an embark anywhere hack to embark on an ocean?

Wouldn't it be much simpler just to add tags to dwarves to make them immune to drowning, and then get on with it? Though I'd imagine you'd also have to make them capable of surviving a fall if Just Embark places everyone at the surface of the ocean.
