That thing  is horrifying. Just look in its eyes! It tries to suck your soul out.
Really, its facial expression is creepy.

I imagine them cooing all over each other like something horrible from a disney movie.

actually, lovebirds ive been around in the past have made more of an "ear piercing shriek" than a cooing

I was referring to the horrifically undwarven "grooming", "touching", and close physical contact.

Really not sure what to do with these things when I manage to capture some.

Maybe make an aviary over my entrance, full of fluttering lovebird men and women exuding wellbeing like some avatar of Eros, with a shimmering waterfall gently cascading through. Then, visitors would descend into the fort itself: a seething, blood-soaked, magma-fueled temple to Armok.

I like the contrasts.

Capture them and put them in a zoo/statue park.

Make it part of something like a mushroom park (or let some trees and grass grow if it was once aboveground) so that you have an Eloi-and-Morlock setup.

an Eloi-and-Morlock setup.

Awesome!

Are animal-people considered "sapients" for the purposes of butchering ethics? If not, there could be a ritualized annual slaying of a few peachies, with the dwarves crawling out like Morlocks to drag them under for the feast.

Yes, they are.  You cannot tame or eat them without modding.

You can still capture them and stick them in a cage forever, though.  (Provided they don't starve or die of old age...)  You might want to leave one male in a locked room, and occasionally drop a female into a pit with cage traps so that she'll get pregnant in the time between cagings or else just mod away their age and food needs.

Ah yes, peach-faced lovebird men.  I must have spent a good minute or so looking in amazement when I first saw the things.

But I was soon taken away by the greater mysteries of the moon-snail men.

I can't speak for anyone else but with .34 and all of the added donation creatures all of the ___-men got a bit too ridiculous for my liking.

I always embark on savage biomes, and I can no longer hunt for food anymore because the only creatures I get on the map are sentient. That really puts a damper on my themed poacher-colony...

I eventually just ripped them all right out of the raws. They don't put up much of a fight to make for an interesting challange (compared to giant creatures anyway), they can be trained as war animals, they can't be butchered for meat and I can't use their bones for crafts. They're useless.

I mean, come on... jumping spider people... really?

It's putting a severe damper on my hunting also but at the same time they're great target practice.
