Dwarven Coffee

Exactly like the title says. I will let the Bay12ers work out a way to weaponize this.

That is all.

I like the suggestion; another use for my Legendary Presser! (espresso/cappuchino)

Yeah. I have this beautiful image of there only being 3 liquids in the game, water, magma, and coffee. Bliss follows.

Coffee shouldn't be hard to add.

New Plant: Coffee Plant
New Reaction: Grind Coffee Beans (takes place at mill/quern, results in a bag of coffee grounds)
New Reaction: Brew Coffee (takes place at either still or screw press, your choice, results in a barrel of Coffee).

Sure, they'll either treat it as alcohol or food, depending on how you code the raw, but it'll be there!

Espresso and cappuchino are strictly the province of Those Pansy Elves.

I mean, you can't very well imagine Cacame Awemedinade, King of the Dwarves, sipping an iced latte, can you?  Even spiked with MAGMAAAA or dragon's blood, it's still too elfy.

Coffee yes but only if you can also make a Dwarven Cuppa. Finely a use for that dwarven sugar. But no milk. Putting milk in tea is an abomination unto Nuggan Armok.

I drink black coffee, as should my dwarves. It will be their only drink.

Sleep, by year 3, sleep will no longer a problem. The dwarves will cure it with their engineering.

So... Elves drink strong coffee and Dwarves drink wimpy coffee?

Dwarves should drink coffee turkish style. A thick dark gloop.

There's your weaponization.

I want these little bastards hopping off of the walls.

Nothing will parallel the fear a goblin feels as he enters the chamber of a dwarf and over the smell of other minor things all that can be noticed is the smell of fresh coffee. I can see it now....

"Hold!... Do you smell that? What is that? I think... Oh no."

But by then it's to late and a flood of boiling coffee has washed over them, peeling their skin from their sinews and cooking them. The dwarven coffee house, a shitty cup of coffee but it's piping hot and there's lots of it.

Plus coffee flavored goblinite.

You just need to apply a syndrome into the coffee drink. But this isn't really for suggestions now, it's one for the modding section.

Suggestions is for stuff we can't mod yet.

Aw hell! And I thought suggestions was for suggestions of what should be in the game.

It is for that, but "moddable" stuff isn't likely to get Toady's attention anytime soon, when he's busy fixing killer bugs and stuff that is impossible to add ourselves. Coffee that makes hyperactive dwarves, is totally moddable yourself since version 34.01+ came out.

Also Toady set a limit of "1400 AD" as the highest tech level of the (core) game. Coffee would break immersion and ruin the medieval setting, so that's unlikely to ever become a core feature. Hence, it's a candidate for a mod.

Why not start a mod thread (in the DF Modding section!!) and ask for help with the details? Or look through the syndrome-related stuff and patch it together. You'll have a mod with your name as author then.
