Why the mining picks?
« on: March 21, 2012, 01:38:04 am »

After having done some absurd adamantine science resulting in that adamantine is shaped by a combination of dwarven psionics and faceplanting I wonder the following: why do dwarves need picks to mine rock when they can just smash it with the psionic forcesface?

They use the picks to amplify and focus their psionic abilities to compress and obliterate the rock and make those small lumps of rock/metal we see.

Mining guild regulations. Hitting rough stone walls with your face leads to sever beard damage.

Dwarves need anvils to channel whatever energy it is they use to shape metals.

You don't want them lugging anvils around all day, do you?

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

Because their forehead, that they use as we all know to hammer metal into the desired shape, is not fitted to break rock.

Dwarves were bound to hit rock walls with something, Originally many different tools were invented, and the miners were told to take their pick   :P

minging pickaxes are actually hyperintelligent symbiotic lifeforms made of pure energy that project a physical "shell" into the world. Unfortunately, they forgot to give the shell the ability to move. Dwarves abuse this and force the lifeforms to amplify their own psychic abilities in exchange for freedrom that will never be given to them.

Indeed, and many cries of 'mine' were heard that day.
