Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs
« on: March 20, 2012, 09:17:12 pm »

Quote
This world is a machine. A machine for pigs. Fit only for the slaughtering of pigs.

Oh no. Oh no no no. I both want and do not want, which is probably a sign that this is going to be a worthy sequel to The Dark Descent.

And here's the best part: It's being developed as a joint project between Frictional Games and thechineseroom. Yes, the people who made Dear Esther and Korsakovia are working on this. Come Halloween we are all going to die of cardiac arrest, have no doubt.

I tried Amnesia, although I didn't finish it because at the time it made the only computer I had access to weep tears of inadequacy. I liked it, so I sorta want to look forward to this, but... the name... what... I'm really having a hard time taking it seriously.

It's set in the 1890s. Think Gilded Age Industrial Horror and the name makes a lot more sense.

In fact, it's terrifying.

Having played Amnesia, the name "A Machine for Pigs" makes me feel uneasy.

You mean heavily-mutilated humans with pig-meat grafts, and a penchant for chasing the highlights out of your hair and running twice as fast as you.

So yes, humans. Probably.

I'd much more imagine the maschine itself being the most scary being in the game, the history written in stains and blood...

I'm normally the one to come in and say "nerds, this isn't scary"

But Amnesia was hard to play in some parts.  I almost never died in Amnesia because when the monster found me I'd quit.  This game sounds really fucking scary.
