Back from Wacken. It had a WW1-Esque feeling with tons upon tons upon tons upon tons of mud and rain. By the time Machine Head played the circle pits turned into wading almost knee deep in mud and hoping not to fall over and drowning in the stuff
But anyway to the Bands:
Dimmu Borgir showed up with a whole Symphonic Orchestra an opera singer and a choir and then managed to turn the drums up to such volumes that it droned out the band the orchestra and the choir, leaving us poor sods in mud and rain with almost shell-shocked ears.
the Scorpions showed their Egomanic side when their completely ignored their allotted time and played half an hour longer then allowed leaving us soaking wet, cold and dirty waiting for Machine Head.
Electric Wizard managed to get stuck in the traffic.
But to the good parts. Amon Amarth rocked and although the moshpits and Wall of Deaths were small we nearly beat each other to death in those
. And when they played Guardians of Asgard a good quarter of the people joined a massive wall of Death.
Opeth rocked and Mikael just made my day with his sarcasm. "Hi we are Opeth and i hope you don't mind if we play some Songs. Sorry for the weather but we come from sweden and bring thee rain with us. when the weather cleared through half their concert "Sorry for the Good weather i know rain would fit better to this song."
I usually don't hear Machine Head but their perfomarnace was so damn awesome it was the best show on the whole festival and although everybody was tired, wet, dirty and cold, they managed to rouse the people to give their last for them.
THe biggest disappointment however in my eyes was In Flames. Good Show but i just can't get into their Reroute to Remains/Sounds of a Playground fading stuff. So i was severly disappointed that they played nothing of Whoracle,JEsterRace,Clayman or of any other of their "good"albums and just the SOunds of a Playground Fading and Reroute to Remains stuff.
But all in all the festival was awesome although the mud was still horribly annoying
