Thank you so much for this thread.  I'm finding lots of new stuff to listen too.

Does anyone else like Sabaton or am I the only historcial metal fan here...

Edit:  Sabaton seems pretty awesome.

Sabaton is awesome, although their latest albums seem to be sacrificing lyrical flow for cramming in battle trivia.

I've been listening to lots of Japanese stuff lately, my favorites:
Sex Machineguns  The funniest lyrics (look up translations) and best music videos of any band.
聖飢魔Ⅱ Love these guys, the lead singer is somewhat of a celebrity and is always in costume.
凱旋March  Kind of like a Japanese Sabaton.  Unfortunately, there probably will not be any more albums.
Gargoyle A pretty confusing band.  I don't even know what genre you'd classify them as.

Sex Machineguns is probably my favorite band at the moment.

Sabaton is pretty great. I can see how they'd get into that particular trap, though. 'Wolf Pack' has always stood out to me as being rather awkward.

Wolfpack was definitely one of the weaker songs on Primo Victoria, but that awesome section where the hits and misses are called out is pure sex.  Things like Uprising bother me more.  It had potential to be so much better.  It has that awesome scream opener, then we have an awkward lead up to the chorus.  They seem really awesome at writing powerful and catchy choruses, but the stuff in between is always a bit "meh".

I love Sabaton! (Though I tend to avoid the holocaust songs.)

Rhapsody of Fire is by and large my favorite band, though it is more symphonic metal/heavy mithral. Metallica is pretty good, but you folks probably already know their music.

Finland: Hard Rock Hallelujah (Lordi)
Sweden: Screaming Eagles (Sabaton)
Italy: Raging Starfire (Rhapsody of Fire)
From Chaos To Eternity (Rhapsody of Fire)
Legend Of Steel (Luca Turilli)

Heroes of the Waterfalls' Kingdom by Rhapsody of Fire is one of my favorite songs, too. (Though largely due to the fact that it is the culmination of a 9-album story arc.) It's almost 20 minutes long, though. There are some slow parts, but the chorus is rockin'.

And then there's The Wizard's Last Rhymes, which is one of their better songs, if not my favorite. It's pretty rad being able to play it on the baritone horn, though. (We're playing the New World Symphony in wind ensemble, and Rhapsody basically stole the melody in its entire. Damn, that symphony is metal now.)

I personally like Uprising. Panzerkampf, The Final solution, Back in controal, Primo Victoria, Uprising, Attero Dominumatus, 40:1 and Screaming eagles are my favorites.

Death.

We had a metal thread a while back. I don't know where it went :(

Thank you! My faith in humanity is restored. Of all the shit bands one could bring up at the start of a Metal thread, the deceased father of  Death metal was named. Proud I am indeed.
