Actually, it's also referenced in Mass Effect 1. Sovereign literally says "We are Legion." In Mass Effect 2, EDI uses the correct quote "My name is Legion, for we are many." when confronted with OMGSPOILERS!

Yeah, I know Mass Effect 2 isn't the newest game, but still, what I just read about that on Wikipedia was a huge surprise for me since I know the story of ME1, but not of ME2.
