I'll be King if you agree. With a unit of cavalry of course, walking is for peasant.
Kings and princes automatically get a unit of Royal Bodyguards, which are the heaviest cavalry in the game and pretty kickass. However (and this is the crap part) Vikings kings/princes don't get Royal Bodyguards. Instead they get Viking Huscarls, which are the second best infantry in the game.
1 Really, the Vikings are crap when it comes to cavalry, since the only unit that they can train are the Viking Raider Cavalry.
2I claim a general. If we pick Welsh, give me a cavalry unit to wreck havoc with. If we end up with Nordic heathens, I want archers. Let some other glory hound charge ax first into death.
Excellent.
I'll take some sort of heavy infantry unit. It's a messy job, but someone has to do it.
If we're playing as the Vikings, then you'll have to pick which heavy infantry you want. The heaviest infantry that the Welsh have are Celtic Warriors, which aren't really that heavy. Mercenaries are always an (expensive) option though.
Anyways the Vikings and Welsh are tied at this point, so I'll flip a coin to see which faction we'll be (Heads - Vikings, Tails - Welsh).
Vikings it is (Sorry Sheb).
1. If you're wondering, Berserkers are the third best infantry in the game and Joms Vikings are the best. Berserkers would be better than Huscarls, but you only get twelve of them and their disdain for shirts means that they easily turn into pincushions. Joms Vikings are basically an upgraded version of Huscarls, and are rape on a stick. If you're wondering, yes, the vikings can train all three units.
2. Viking Raider Cavalry are the worse cavalry unit period, full stop, end of line, null character. They're weak, have poor morale, and I'm pretty sure that they're terribly slow as well. Anything strong than a routing unit will give them trouble. Oddly enough, they can dismount and turn into Viking Carls, which is a pretty good infantry unit. Thus whenever I do use them (thanks to mercenaries, highly doubtful) they'll most likely be deployed as infantry, until they get enough valour to be useful.
