Hawk has decided to make me overseer. He has high expectations of me- I hope I will be able to meet them. Either way, I have decided to start by looking at our whole fortress so I can be sure of everything we have.
We are reasonably wealthy. We have a decent amount of food, but we could use more drink. We have plenty of dwarves. We have a military, but I am not experienced and am unsure whether it is sufficient or not. We have no marksdwarves, which could become a problem. We have a lot of animals- maybe I should butcher some and make bone crafts/bolts.
On the above-ground level we have an area surrounded by a wooden barricade and a ditch. A retractable bridge is over it. In this area we have a murky pool, stockpiles containing finished goods, wood, and refuse. Of course, we have an entrance as well. Our defenses are okay, but I think I will add to them if only to be safe.
Below that is a level filled with an assortment of things on it, including a cloth industry, farms and carpenters workshops. These are all decent, although somewhat unorganised. There is also a military training area, which I should expand so that they will be more comfortable. Also, add a shooting range. I'm not sure what that irregularly-shaped room is for.
And here we have a kitchen, still, food stockpile (inexplicably filled with pots) and a large room with a couple tables in it. Is that our dining room? huh.
And here we have the pastures. Animals are kept here, along with finished goods, pots, coffins, weapons, and ammo. Not much to say here.
3 workshops are on this level in a disorganised mess- Jeweller's, Mason's, and Craftdwarf's.
This room has some bar bins, as well as a jumble of finished goods. Otherwise, this room is ripe for expansion.
This level is used for mining, there being absolutely nothing on it.
Here we have some stairs. yaaaaaaay. Ripe for expansion.
Some bedrooms, as well as a vague attempt at a dormitory- The rocks aren't even cleared out. Bleh.
Some more bedrooms, this time evidently for nobles.
Some work-in-progress rooms. Also, stairs.
Some more stairs.
THIS is our meeting area and dining room. The dwarves are looking kinda crowded.
I'm getting kinda tired of these. Oh well, it beats falling.
And here we have the tombs! For all the dead dwarves. There is little to do here.
And the most exciting part of our tour yet, 50 more levels of stairs.
Until you finally get to the magma forges. The stone is all rough, but otherwise they are in perfect working condition.
Nothing interesting past that.
To do list-
- Make more drinks.
- Start on engraving.
- Improve the training area.
- Set up some marksdwarves.
- Improve defenses (a little).
- Make a larger meeting area.
- Do something with all those pots.
- Set up a hospital.
- Start on a well (That isn't sunk into muddy water, that is).
- Also, soap.
- Butcher some animals.
- Improve dormitory.
I think that's all. I hope I can achieve it.
I'll go back to making stuff out of rock now.
