Right, right. And spires are really made of cotton candy and hide harmless clowns.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

My new rule is to just purge my mayor, once a new one is elected just assume he's a vamp too. No EXCEPTIONS.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

Guys, she's not a vampire. She's an ordinary hunter dwarf.

you obviously didn't read all the posts. We already came to that conclusion and proceeded to talk about other stuff.

Oh i did, but they always seem to get elected so it seems like an effective sorting method, it's always dorfy to go overboard and kill/maim for no real reason.

engrave a slab for one of the victims and you'll see the name of the vampire, it seems.

Hopefully this actually works.

Give them a nice trap gauntlet to run, maybe a "dodge-me" trap over a 10-z pit lined with menacing copper spikes, so they explode into greasy goblin gibs on impact and leave the lovely iron bits for your dwarves to collect at leisure.

The name revealed ... is what?  The english version of the dorf name?  Is there anywhere in the game the name is mentioned?

easiest way for me to hunt vampires outside of crosschecking with Dwarf Rapist Therapist is just the unit list. View each dwarf, checking associations and if you find one with a wall of blue in there, assign a nickname. Proceed to check the deity relationship, and if the vampire is there, you'll find the nickname among the curses listed as being handed out by that deity.
