So, we have come up with cultures. They don't have a background yet, but we loosely based them on real civilizations, then... Changed them around, alot. You'll see.

French/Germanic = Adranic
Polytheistic pantheon, slavery is ok and widespread (they buy their slaves from Duluks and Haegars). Polygamy exists - a woman can have many husbands, a man many wives.
Spanish = Altanic
Polytheists with the same pantheon as Adranics, no slavery but human sacrifices => Nobleborn prisoners of wars, Altanic or any other culture, are imprisoned in a room full of salt with glass walls, and the people watch as they die from thirst. Monogamous, but mistresses (and misters(?)) are accepted. Trade very present.
Vikings = Haegars
Raiders and pirates. Polytheists, but they have their own gods. They burn the bodies of warriors, and bury the warriors who managed to kill at least one Haegar before dying. Peasants are sold as slaves. Best archers of the known world. They are strictly monogamic, women are equal to men, they keep no slaves for themselves.
Mongols = Duluks
Mounted raiders. Polytheists, their own pantheon. Have a strict honor code, universally respected. They sell their enemies into slavery, all except the Duluks.
Egyptians = Saelradians
Republic. The ruler is a God, and his divinity goes from ruler to ruler. The people, the voters, are those who grant said divinity. The rulers who turn tyrant were possessed by demons at the time of the elections.
Greeks = Ralkarians
Decadent and extremely rich, great traders. They do not enforce any religion, and as such there are a lot of different temples in their cities. The richest man in the nation is the ruler - since they control taxes, they have a tendency to remain the rulers for all their lives.
Arabic = Ampyrians
Matriarchal, amazon-like culture. Monotheists.
Chinese = Selenids
Foul mouthed, notoriously dishonorable. Value the lives of their own. Monotheists.

Feel free to comment or to criticize.

How about we wait til people make there characters before setting up guidelines about how people act in case anyone is a foreigner, not to mention the king would be able to override anything about their culture through laws and stuff, so theirs no point in even giving them cultures at this point.

I cant help but agree, we should wait a bit, I reckon you should make these some nations, but leave the rest to the players

I would prefer to get the cultures fleshed out as soon as possible, but I would like to suggest a change. If the Greek counterparts are the wealthy traders, it might make sense to have their nation be positioned in the spot the Egyptians are in; it would seem like trade routes from the north, east, and south would connect there, leading to that sort of culture. Sort of like Renaissance Italy.

As I said, make some cultures (these ones) and let the players make some of their own.

I disagree with KoW and Deny.
I think that players should try and create their idea of a character to the baselines of what's been written above. Sure, they could elaborate—we don't know what, exactly, the Duluks' honor code is, or what the gods of Altanic people are like—but they musn't stray fromthe base.
There is freedom, then there is anarchy.

Also, KoW, kings couldn't override culture with a few 'laws' and orders: mores and folkways are less strongly enforced than, but much more resistant than, Law. If a king were to try to convert Ampyrian to polytheism, he must either have enough power to bully everyone to the new law, or be ripped to shreads by the various religious groups—perhaps a holy order of the One God would exist—and also be pounced upon by any nobles who were just waiting for an excuse for overturning the king. Heck, if such a law was passed any noble would seize the opportunity and lead the peasants to rise against the king and secure a high position in the new government.

Suggestion: I assume Ampyrian is a monotheistic nation since it doesn't say it's poly, and Arabic culture is monotheistic (Allah); to clear up ambiguities, could you specify the plurality or lack thereof of gods in the area of religion? :3

Monotheistic, or at least it seemed so during the discussion proper.

While non-mechanical details will often be left to the players, YaK 3 revolves largely around removing barriers to player interaction; the most offensive element, in that regard, was the number of different starting locations and independants. The players will choose the player nation out of the ones in the map, but everyone is arbitrarily starting as a landed noble of sorts as in to concentrate the action in a single area and stay true to the game's original purpose. Likewise, all players are invited to participate in the decision making, if only they will join the IRC and share their opinion.

Sort of like Renaissance Italy.

They are both largely mercantile cultures, in spite of what one would expect of a nation loosely based on Egypt; trade routes will receive some flashing out at a later date, should any inconsistencies arise due to the positioning of the trade centers and routes, they will be dealt with as necessary prior to the game's start.

I would want to make my own empire. :(
And also, you still have to make the empires themself, and i have an idee.
Could you make another map in the same shape but with colors and lines?
And each color is an empire.
And in the Jungle on the West, could you place an Aztec culture there?
