Hey, just giving everyone a heads up, I was looking it the Merchant Trade Tables spreadsheet and when I tried going back (using backspace as my back button), I think I may have deleted something. It was most probably the top left field.

Sorry about that.

I did say that game balance demanded it and I do not believe I've ever asked asked for a buff based merely on fluff. Overall, I fail to see where we've come to a disagreement, have you not misinterpreted my ramblings?

Random note: the chances of someone failing to get 100 pts after 4000 attempts (800 seasons/200 years) are lesser than those of winning the lottery a dozen times in a roll; you don't get much unluckier than that.

Saying game balance demands it still sounds like you're complaining your character's age should somehow mean something.

And actually the odd of net gain on training being 0 are 3:3 - 1,2,6 all deduct points

Advantage to you: we're not using that table anymore :D Besides, its like wikia, it keeps changelogs

Nope, I simply meant to say it felt awkward to RP it, not that it should be changed; gameplay first, fluff later. Back to the discussion on training rolls; If you roll Nth times, N being an arbitrarily high number, you'd find the ocurrence of each roll to average out at 1/6, 3 being negative and 3 being positive, but the three positive ones add to +60, whereas the three negative ones add to -40; while there will, of course, be deviations, one can feasibly estimate 100 pts every 30 rolls, which translates to roughly 6 seasons of training for a skill's 1st rank.

Well its good to know im not the only raging nerd that'll run the math on something so sad in a game.

The 60/40 split was intentional so as to give some benefit. Sure, if you're unlucky it might take a while, but you should make SOME progress every so often.

Which means I'll still be playing.

That was my point

In Polca:

Laneira stretched her arms as she strode through the city, taking in it's splendor and beauty, the city was simple and archaic in her taste but she liked it nonetheless. Her orders to her men was to wait outside the city gates as she would personally handle the first steps of her work. The many thoughts of how to approach the situation crossed through her mind but she moved on with confidence. Surely there must be caravans needful of guards at this time. She ignored the stares of the people as she passed by another street, maybe this was the right direction?

Head towards the marketplace to gather information.

((We're going to assume you came in by sea, or you'd know about the following!))

Erm, yes. Like I said, or thought I said before, I am partly lost in where or what events have happened. Other than the seasonal event of Spring and it's effect in Polca, so basically, truly new.

Skyrunner, just that you know, there are things called leylines. They are essentially veins of magical energy that run in the earth and are as you described the earth energy.
One thing however is that they are not everywhere, and they form a network that flows all around the Storm Coast. The network looks a bit like a crack with many lines going in every direction or like a lightning bolt that has its little lines also spread in many directions. Its a big network, but there is no central point or nexus (that I would know about).

It's different from leylines... I think. o_o

If it doesn't work, I'm just going with ambient environmental energy.

I'm still in btw, I'm simply not going to post my next action until someone tries to talk to me, since my first post can happen at any time, and I have nothing else to do really.

You're going to be waiting quite a while. You're one of only two characters in Ligoria.

What reason would the current ruler of Ligoria have to visit a candlemaker?

Leylines always have a nexus, it just so happens that it's always one of the setting's most sought after and well guarded secrets; you know, the magicians' access to undilluted ultimate power runs inversely proportional to a given world's prospectives of having a lasting history.
