General Merc costs are half the upkeep per season - be cheaper to hire your own and yknow, helpful!

I can however roll the intent of it for free! Cause its a standing issue

Ignoring the incredible chances of death by miscast, is it feasible for a mage to try and transmute stone/lead in one ducat worth of gold?

Then you'd have to pay for them

Gods no - Putting it mildly, if there's anyone in the cost who has tried? It'd be Shola or at LEAST the Udanese. Thats a fair bit of fluff that would have been mentioned. Flesh to Stone, Stone to Mud - those sorts of transmutes are likely possible. I'd probably go so far as to say your mid-level druids could pull off barkskin with minimal side effects. The Holy Grail of alchemy is a tad outside the purview of your average mage, let alone nubcakes.

Can we assume I payed for them or should I go back and edit my turn, then repost?

So, um, skipping to introductory and first post, which I will post here as I am too nervous to see it go awry in the real thread.

Also, still lost on how to post in this. Are simple actions like Find the Merchant depot or Inquire on trade routes permitted?

Spoiler: Application (click to show/hide)

In Polca:

Lan stretched her arms as she strode through the city, taking in it's splendor and beauty, the city was simple and archaic in her taste but she liked it nonetheless. Her orders to her men was to wait outside the city gates as she would personally handle the first steps of her work. The many thoughts of how to approach the situation crossed through her mind but she moved on with confidence. Surely there must be caravans needful of guards at this time. She ignored the stares of the people as she passed by another street, maybe this was the right direction?

Head towards the marketplace to gather information.

Good thing I have no knowledge of who they are.

Alright then, going with so.
Edit: Everyone has their own wording colors. Possible for me to take Yellow Green?

CyberGenesis has been online and he didn't further comment on it. That's why I am asking. :)

Im always logged in, i don't close my windows

And no - as i said i have no idea what you want those skills to DO - you can start without them, as i see no immediate need of either, but some ideas would be helpful. What Kid referred to was also the ORIGINAL YaK - which didn't have too many skills or rulings in it

I was referring to a post you made in the meantime, not to your status on the board. :)

Anyway, then this will be my updated application:

It is weird in several ways that in two centuries Azkhael was unable to attain the mastery of a ten years long practicioner, but game balance does demand so; after all, you don't see D&D elves starting as 20th level arcane casters. I need only figure out how to roleplay him based on that... I will come up with something or sit in the underground dungeon until his magic skills are compatible.

Isn't it odd that no game, ever, starts you out at 10% let alone 110%? You have to earn everything. And if you actually look at the mechanics of our training system - you can fail to gain a rank -forever- simply because chance hates you. Maybe your character sucks at analysis of failure and continues to try the same things expecting different results.

No one gets a fluffed start

I did say that game balance demanded it and I do not believe I've ever asked asked for a buff based merely on fluff. Overall, I fail to see where we've come to a disagreement, have you not misinterpreted my ramblings?

Random note: the chances of someone failing to get 100 pts after 4000 attempts (800 seasons/200 years) are lesser than those of winning the lottery a dozen times in a roll; you don't get much unluckier than that.
